What does “Latency Optimizer” refer to?
Several utilities use similar names, so a free label for one product does not establish the price or status of another. SourceForge’s listing for Badosoft’s Latency Optimizer calls the Windows software “Free” and gives March 12, 2019, as its latest update. That listing does not establish whether Badosoft still distributes it or what terms apply today.

AdiruNetwork’s Latency Optimizer is a separate project. Its page describes adjustments to Windows settings such as power plans, services, drivers, DNS, and CPU parking; those feature descriptions are not proof of performance gains. The associated GitHub repository identifies an MIT license and a v1.0 release dated June 5, 2023. Do not use details about that project to infer Badosoft’s current pricing or features.
How do free tiers compare?
For a clearer current comparison, these vendors describe free and paid options on their own pages. The limits and prices below are vendor-stated terms, not a like-for-like independent test; they can change.

These are vendor descriptions, not independent measurements of how much latency any product reduces. For example, RESET states, “The optimizer is free. FrameBoost is Premium.” That describes RESET’s offering, not every tool called a latency optimizer.
Can a free optimizer reduce ping?
Do not assume it can. A Windows utility may change supported local settings, but that does not mean it controls the route between your connection and a game server. Hone says it cannot control your ISP, Wi-Fi quality, distance to the server, or server load. EMTweaks says its Ping Stabilizer targets spikes rather than lowering ping. These are vendor explanations, not proof of a particular result on your connection.

“Lag” can refer to different problems, including network delay, inconsistent connection quality, or a game running poorly on the PC. A setting tweak that affects one source of delay is not evidence that it will fix another. The available product pages do not establish a shared independent benchmark showing that any listed optimizer lowers latency across systems or games.
What to check before installing or paying
- Confirm the exact publisher and product. Similar names are not interchangeable; check the product page and publisher before relying on a free label.
- Read the free-tier limit. Find out whether the free plan limits the number of optimizations, excludes particular features, or requires an upgrade for continued use.
- Check what a paid plan changes. Identify the specific feature you need and whether billing is one-time or recurring. Treat displayed prices as changeable vendor terms.
- Look for a preview and a way back. RESET says its site provides previews and per-change backups. Those safeguards are vendor-described features; check that the utility you choose makes its proposed changes clear and offers a recovery path.
- Separate claims from measured results. Look for testing on the same game and comparable hardware and connection conditions. Marketing descriptions alone do not show that a tweak will help your setup.
What is the practical answer?
If you mean Badosoft’s Latency Optimizer, the available listing calls it free, but its 2019 update date leaves current distribution and terms uncertain. If you mean a different optimizer, check that product’s own free-tier rules: the alternatives listed here range from a feature-based free offering to capped plans and a free tier with three tweaks.
