No. If a calendar invitation looks suspicious, do not accept, decline, mark it tentative, or use an RSVP link. A response may notify the organizer, and security guidance warns that scammers can use it to confirm an email address is active. Verify a possibly legitimate invitation through a separate, trusted contact route, then report or remove the suspicious event using your provider’s controls.
Why you should not RSVP to a suspicious invite
A calendar entry is still an untrusted message, even when it appears in a familiar calendar app. Google says an organizer is notified when you respond to an invitation. The University of Hawaiʻi’s information security office and KnowBe4 warn that an RSVP can also help a malicious sender learn that your address is active. Provider behavior can vary, so this is a cautious security default—not a claim that every service always sends a decline to a malicious actor.

Do not open links or attachments in the event, or call phone numbers it includes. Be especially cautious if the invitation is unexpected and pressures you to act, asks for a password or one-time code, or directs you to a sign-in page.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat to do with an unexpected invitation
- Do not interact with suspicious content. Avoid Accept, Decline, Maybe or any RSVP link. Do not open attachments, follow links, or call numbers listed in the event.
- Check whether it could be legitimate. If the invitation might be genuine, contact the supposed organizer using a number you already trust, a saved contact, or the organization’s official website reached independently. Do not rely on contact details in the invitation.
- Report or remove it through your provider. Use the calendar’s junk or spam control where available. If the invitation arrived as an email, use the email service’s phishing-reporting option as well.
- RSVP only after verification. Once you have confirmed who sent it and why, respond as you normally would.
The FTC describes a specific scam pattern in which fake digital invitations ask recipients for email login credentials or a passcode to RSVP. Do not provide either; verify the invitation with the host through a separate channel.

How to report it in Google Calendar, iCloud Calendar, or Outlook
Google Calendar
On a computer, open the event, select More actions, then choose Report as spam. Google says this option applies only to events sent from Google Calendar; events created by another provider or app are not eligible for this reporting path. Reporting removes the event, and for a recurring event it removes the entire series.
To limit automatic additions from unfamiliar senders, go to Settings > General > Event settings > Add invitations to my calendar and choose Only if the sender is known. Google defines known senders as contacts, people in your organization, or people you have interacted with. Google cautions that this setting might reveal to senders that they are not in your contacts.

Apple iCloud Calendar
Apple’s iCloud guidance offers Report Junk for unwanted or suspicious invitations in Mail or Calendar. Apple says reporting junk automatically deletes that invitation from calendars on devices signed in to the same Apple Account. If the problem is a spam calendar subscription rather than an individual invite, delete the subscription. Apple also advises against following links or opening or saving attachments in suspicious messages.

Microsoft Outlook
For a suspicious Outlook message, Microsoft describes using Report > Report phishing, then deleting the message. If the invite might be legitimate, verify it using independently obtained official contact details, or contact a known person by another means such as a phone call or text.
