What the report says—and what it does not prove
A Googlebook community user reported seeing Find Hub disabled with no option to turn it on. They also said the laptop could be added to the Find Hub app but could not then be found. This is evidence of one user’s experience, not confirmation that the same behavior affects all Googlebooks or that Google deliberately removed laptop tracking. The cause, prevalence and intended behavior remain unconfirmed.

Does Find Hub support locating a Googlebook?
Google’s public Find Hub materials describe finding Android devices and accessories, but do not explicitly say that Find Hub can locate a Googlebook laptop. Google’s Android Help page says Find My Device is now Find Hub and describes locating, securing or erasing lost Android devices and Wear OS watches: Google Android Help: Find, secure, or erase a lost Android device.
The app’s Google Play listing names phones, tablets, headphones and other accessories as devices users can find. It also describes playing a sound and remotely securing or erasing a lost device: Find Hub on Google Play. Neither source explicitly lists Googlebook laptops. That leaves laptop support unconfirmed in Google’s public descriptions; it does not, by itself, prove that support is impossible.

Why Android features on a Googlebook do not settle the question
Google describes Googlebooks as a new laptop line running Googlebook OS, which brings together ChromeOS and the Android technology stack. Google’s September 23, 2026 support article says the initial rollout is for consumers, that many newer Chromebook devices may be eligible to transition, and that existing ChromeOS devices continue to receive updates under Google’s Auto Update policy: Googlebook OS support article.
Google’s FAQ describes Android apps from Google Play and workflows that connect a phone with a Googlebook, including access to phone apps and files: Googlebook FAQ. Those features establish Android-related capabilities and phone-to-laptop integration; they do not establish that Find Hub can locate the laptop itself. Finding a separate accessory through Find Hub is also different from locating the Googlebook that accessory is paired with.

So, why would Find Hub appear disabled?
There is no verified explanation for the reported setting. The available official descriptions do not confirm that Google has withdrawn Find Hub support from Googlebooks, and the individual report does not identify a cause. Without an official Googlebook support response or release note addressing this behavior, it would be speculation to attribute it to a policy, software defect or planned change.

If you see the same issue, distinguish what the app is showing: adding a Googlebook to an account is not the same as successfully locating the laptop. Google’s public instructions cover finding supported Android devices and accessories; they do not provide a Googlebook-specific troubleshooting path. Check for a Googlebook support response or release note before treating a workaround—or an expected fix—as confirmed.

What to rely on for now
- Google’s published Find Hub information describes Android devices, Wear OS watches and accessories, but does not explicitly confirm Googlebook laptop tracking.
- One user reported a disabled setting and an unsuccessful attempt to locate a Googlebook; that does not establish a general limitation.
- Googlebook’s Android and cross-device features do not by themselves show that Find Hub can track the laptop.
- A locator tag, if compatible with Find Hub, would be for tracking the separate tagged item. The app’s general accessory support does not establish that a tag can locate the Googlebook itself.
