Reports say the glasses can identify a QR code and initiate a UPI payment after a voice command, alongside features such as live translation and AI note-taking. The payment flow and device specifications have not been independently established, and Jio has not confirmed a retail price or launch date for the showcased device.
How the reported UPI payment feature works
Jagran and TelecomTalk describe a two-part interaction: the wearer looks at a QR code, then gives a voice command to initiate a payment. The reports do not establish that looking at a code alone completes a transaction. They also do not explain how the user authenticates or authorizes payment, which phone or app is involved, or which banks and payment services are supported. Treat this as a reported showcase capability, not a verified end-to-end payment workflow. Jagran’s report and TelecomTalk’s coverage describe the feature; the reviewed official Jio materials do not document its mechanics.

Reported transaction limits
Jagran reports a maximum of ₹5,000 per transaction and ₹15,000 per month, attributing both limits to UPI Circle rules rather than to Jio. These figures were not confirmed by a primary UPI Circle source in the materials reviewed, so they should be treated as reported limits, not settled rules for the glasses.
Other capabilities reported at the showcase
Coverage of the IMC demonstration also lists live language translation, AI note-taking, live cricket commentary, an AI voice assistant, and support for multiple Indian languages. These are reported showcase features; there are no independent performance results establishing their accuracy, supported languages, latency, or operation in everyday use. Jagran and TelecomTalk report the capabilities.

Jio’s current JioReality FAQ describes a platform comprising JioReality OS, JioReality AI, and the JioReality App. It says the app is the primary gateway for managing experiences and that most AI features require app connectivity. The FAQ also says AI Frames are sold by JioReality partner brands through optical stores, with prescription lens fitting depending on the frame and partner. Those are platform-level statements, not confirmation that the specific IMC showcase model is on sale or will use the same retail arrangements. JioReality’s AI Frames FAQ provides the platform details.

The official materials reviewed do not establish the showcased glasses’ final retail name, price, launch date, purchase channel, or availability. The UPI authorization and security flow is also unspecified. An October 7, 2026 explainer notes that Reliance’s August 2025 JioFrames announcement did not mention UPI or QR payments; that describes the earlier announcement and does not rule out a feature being shown later. iTechGuides’ explainer addresses the earlier announcement.
