Bluehost is most compelling for a new WordPress site owner who wants guided setup and bundled essentials. Its entry plan includes weekly backups and no phone support, and the advertised low monthly price is tied to a 36-month term before a higher renewal rate. Independent testing offers a useful but limited snapshot—not proof that Bluehost is the fastest choice or can handle every workload.
Bluehost WordPress hosting plans and prices
Bluehost’s US-facing WordPress page, accessed October 7, 2026, lists the following monthly prices for 36-month terms, excluding VAT and GST. The introductory rate applies to the first term; the renewal price is the recurring rate shown by Bluehost. Check checkout for the terms and total payment applicable to your location.

| Business | $6.99/month for a 36-month term | $13.99/month | 50 | 50 GB | “Ideal for 200K visits/mo” | Included |

Plan prices, site and storage limits, and traffic estimates are Bluehost’s own listings, not independently verified measures of capacity. Bluehost’s WordPress hosting page lists a free domain for the first year, SSL, CDN, managed WordPress updates, weekly backups, and a 30-day money-back guarantee on all three tiers. The same page lists 24/7 chat on Starter; the two higher tiers also list phone support.
What Bluehost’s performance test actually shows
WPBeginner published its review on August 6, 2026, based on testing conducted in July. It set up an identical WordPress site using a default theme and sample content on a custom domain, then tested speed with GTmetrix, stress with k6, response time across six global regions, and uptime with Uptime Robot for 30 days. - It gives the best comparison between ten different hosts
- Largest Contentful Paint: 933 ms on the tested site.
- Average response time: 599 ms across the six regions; the test report says South America and Japan were slower. The site used a US location.
- Observed uptime: 100% during the 30-day monitoring window. That is a time-limited observation, not an uptime guarantee.
WPBeginner’s July 2026 comparison reported a 659 ms median LCP across the providers it tested and a fastest result of 358 ms. These are comparisons within that review’s tested group, not universal rankings across all hosting plans, sites, or workloads.
The stress test did not establish capacity
WPBeginner could not complete its k6 stress test with 50 virtual users: Bluehost’s Cloudflare integration flagged and blocked the synthetic traffic, even after the reviewer allow-listed it. Because the test did not complete, it provides no successful capacity result. The other figures describe one site, one setup, and the stated observation period; they should not be treated as a guarantee for a different WordPress installation.

What “managed WordPress” means for this choice
Bluehost markets these plans as managed WordPress hosting, but the decision is better grounded in the features it lists for each tier than in the label alone. All three plans list managed updates and weekly backups. The entry plan’s weekly cadence may not fit a site that changes frequently or needs a more frequent recovery point. Confirm what backup restoration involves and whether the cadence meets your needs before relying on it.
Bluehost’s published traffic figures—40K, 200K, and 400K visits per month—are estimates described as “ideal” for each plan. They are not independent benchmarks or a promise that a particular site will sustain those visit counts. Actual needs depend on the site and its workload; the available test did not successfully measure Bluehost’s capacity under 50 virtual users.
Who should consider Bluehost—and who should compare
Bluehost may fit
- A first-time WordPress owner who values a guided start and bundled essentials.
- A blog or small-business site whose needs align with the selected plan’s stated site and storage limits.
- A buyer prepared to compare the full 36-month commitment with the renewal rate, rather than choosing by the introductory monthly figure alone.
Compare other options if
- You need stronger performance evidence for a high-traffic or ecommerce workload. The cited test did not complete its stress test, and its results came from one US-based site.
- You need phone support on the Starter tier, or more frequent backups than the weekly cadence listed across the plans.
- Your decision depends on independently verified traffic capacity, workload-matched speed results, or support and recovery details not established by the listed features.
How to compare Bluehost with alternatives
TechRadar’s 2026 comparison names Cloudways as its overall managed-hosting pick and SiteGround for small businesses, alongside a value pick that is omitted here. Those labels reflect TechRadar’s categories, not a universal answer for every Bluehost customer. See TechRadar’s 2026 hosting comparison.

Rank #4
- Total cost: Compare the full first-term payment and renewal amount, plus the contract length and any location-specific checkout terms.
- Capacity: Check website and storage limits. Treat a provider’s traffic estimate as a provider claim unless independent testing substantiates it.
- Performance evidence: Look for test details—site configuration, server location, duration, regions, and workload—before applying results to your own site.
- Backups and recovery: Match backup frequency and restoration needs to how often your content or transactions change.
- Support: Verify which channels are included in the exact plan you would buy.
- Growth: For high traffic or ecommerce, seek current, workload-matched evidence rather than relying on a plan’s “ideal visits” figure.
Verdict
Bluehost is a reasonable candidate for a beginner who prioritizes a bundled, guided WordPress start and has checked the 36-month cost, renewal price, backup cadence, and support channel. Its published plan figures are not independent capacity guarantees, while the available 2026 performance review is a limited test that could not complete its stress test. For a demanding or high-traffic site, compare alternatives using workload-matched tests and the support, backup, and renewal terms that matter to you.
