Apple TV had a real service interruption affecting some users beginning September 30, 2026, but Apple’s System Status history now marks the issue resolved. If you’re asking “Is Apple TV down?” or “Is Apple TV+ down?”, check Apple System Status for the live situation; the incident described here was a service-availability problem, not evidence of Apple TV hardware failure.
What happened to Apple TV?
Apple’s System Status history says Apple TV was unavailable to “Some users” because of scheduled maintenance, and marks the incident resolved. Apple’s notice explains the stated service status, but does not establish a deeper technical cause.

The history labels the incident as beginning September 30, 2026, at 8:43 PM and ending October 2 at 1:20 AM in the page’s displayed time context. The historical labels do not unambiguously establish a timezone, so they should not be converted to another timezone or used to claim an exact outage duration.

Were other Apple services affected?
Yes. Contemporaneous reporting described a broader disruption with staggered recovery. 9to5Mac reported App Store, Apple Fitness+, Apple Music, Apple Music Subscriptions, Mac App Store, Subscription Purchase and Apple TV among the affected entries at one point; its update said Apple TV was the remaining unresolved issue. MacRumors likewise reported on October 1 that Apple TV was still affected for an unknown number of users. The reports describe the incident as it evolved, not identical downtime for every service.

What to do if Apple TV still is not working
- Check the live status: Open Apple System Status and look for Apple TV. A resolved historical entry does not guarantee that no new issue has arisen.
- Identify which Apple TV product is affected: If the status page shows the service available, determine whether the problem is with Apple’s streaming service or app, or with an Apple TV device. A service interruption and a device fault require different support paths.
- Use the relevant support route: For a device that will not work or turn on, or displays a black screen, visit Apple TV Support for troubleshooting and service options.
Third-party status trackers showed the service as operational by October 2 while still reflecting a small number of user reports. Those reports do not establish a continuing Apple-wide outage or the number of people affected; Apple’s status history is the stronger source for the incident’s recorded resolution.
