Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAdobe still offers free products, but its full desktop creative apps require a paid subscription. A free Creative Cloud membership includes Adobe Express Free, mobile apps, and fonts—not every desktop app. The confusion is partly about a 2025 change to affected Creative Cloud individual plans, which are now presented as Standard and Pro.
Is Adobe no longer free?
No. Adobe has not made every product paid. It still offers free entry-level services, including a Creative Cloud free membership, Adobe Express Free, and Acrobat Reader. Those options are separate from subscriptions that provide access to Adobe’s full professional desktop creative apps.

Adobe describes its free Creative Cloud membership as including the free Adobe Express plan, mobile apps, and fonts. It does not include all paid desktop Creative Cloud apps. A free trial, where offered, is also different from an ongoing free tier.

Creative Cloud free membership
The free membership is an entry point to selected Adobe services rather than a free version of the complete Creative Cloud desktop suite. Adobe’s Creative Cloud pricing page describes the membership and its included free services.
#1 Best Overall
Adobe Express Free
Express Free is available without a subscription and provides web and mobile access to templates and standard editing tools. Adobe’s current Help Center listing gives the free plan 5 GB of storage and 10-day version history; these are plan allowances, not guarantees that features will never change. Adobe also cautions that some Stock assets that were free may become paid. See the Adobe Express Free plan details.
Acrobat Reader
Reader remains free for opening and viewing PDFs. Adobe’s “Free. Always.” wording applies to Reader’s PDF viewing role; it does not make every Acrobat feature free. Editing, converting, signing, AI, and other expanded capabilities are offered through paid Acrobat plans. Check Adobe’s Acrobat plans for the current distinction.

What changed with Creative Cloud Standard and Pro?
For affected Creative Cloud All Apps individual and student/teacher subscribers, Adobe now presents the former All Apps plan as Creative Cloud Pro and introduced Creative Cloud Standard. The change does not mean desktop apps disappeared from Standard: Adobe’s comparison lists access to 20-plus desktop apps for both Standard and Pro.
The difference is primarily in web and mobile access and generative features. Standard includes full access to selected apps, including Acrobat, Express, Fresco, and Podcast, but basic features in other Adobe web and mobile apps. Pro includes full web and mobile app access and has different premium generative feature and monthly credit allowances. Check Adobe’s plan comparison and eligibility details for the precise feature and credit breakdown.

What do Adobe Creative Cloud Standard and Pro cost?
Adobe’s Help Center comparison, updated March 19, 2026, lists these U.S. prices for individual plans on annual contracts billed monthly:
| Plan | U.S. listed price | Contract and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Creative Cloud Standard | $54.99/month | Individual annual contract, billed monthly |
| Creative Cloud Pro | $69.99/month | Individual annual contract, billed monthly |
These are dated U.S. examples, not universal quotes. Adobe says prices vary by country and exclude applicable tax, VAT, or GST. The comparison also lists student/teacher Pro at $19.99/month introductory for the first year and $39.99/month on renewal, on annual contracts billed monthly. Those rates apply to that eligibility and offer context, not to every customer.
Adobe’s pricing pages may show promotional offers that differ from the Help Center comparison. Do not assume a promotion applies to your account or continues at renewal. For your actual price, open Manage Plan in your Adobe account and check the plan, contract, and renewal amount before making a change.
When did the plan change take effect?
Adobe says impacted individual All Apps customers’ plan name and pricing changed at renewal: on or after June 17, 2025, in North America, and on or after August 1, 2025, in other affected regions. Adobe identifies Belarus, China, Germany, Poland, Russia, and South Korea as not currently impacted by this change.
The change is scoped to the individual All Apps and student/teacher plans covered by Adobe’s notice. Adobe describes existing single-app and Photography subscribers separately, so the Standard/Pro change should not be read as a change to every Adobe subscription. Your country, eligibility, and renewal date matter; check your account rather than assuming a date or price applies to you.
Quick Recap
Which option makes sense for you?
- You only need to view PDFs: Acrobat Reader is the free option for opening and viewing. If you need editing, signing, conversion, or other expanded capabilities, compare paid Acrobat plans.
- You need basic design or editing: Try Express Free first. Its free tier may be enough if its tools and storage allowance meet your needs.
- You need a full desktop creative app: A free Creative Cloud membership does not provide the full paid desktop suite. Compare Standard and Pro based on the desktop apps and additional web/mobile or generative features you actually need.
- You are choosing between Standard and Pro: Both list 20-plus desktop apps. Consider whether full web/mobile access and Pro’s premium generative features justify the price difference for your work.
- You already subscribe: Verify the plan name and renewal price in Manage Plan. Region, contract, renewal timing, and eligibility can change what applies.
