Which phone has the stronger performance platform?
On the stated chipset alone, the iQOO 15R is the performance-oriented pick: iQOO lists a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, while Xiaomi lists a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 for the REDMI. The 91mobiles comparison reports maximum CPU frequencies of up to 3.8GHz and 2.6GHz respectively, but clock speed and chipset tier are not substitutes for controlled benchmark or real-world testing. These specifications do not establish a measured performance gap.

Which has the better display for your priorities?
The REDMI has the larger panel at 6.83 inches, compared with 6.59 inches on the iQOO, so it offers more screen area. Both are listed as 1.5K AMOLED displays. iQOO specifies 130Hz refresh for normal scenes, while Xiaomi lists up to 120Hz and highlights 12-bit color, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Refresh rates alone do not determine overall display quality, and the actual supported modes can vary by content and device configuration.

Battery capacity and charging
Xiaomi lists a typical 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery for the REDMI; iQOO lists 7,600mAh typical capacity for the 15R. Both manufacturers specify 100W charging, while Xiaomi additionally lists 27W wired reverse charging. The larger nominal capacity may appeal if battery size is a priority, but capacity alone cannot establish how long either phone lasts between charges. No standardized comparative runtime is established by these specifications.
Camera hardware: what the specifications do and do not show
Both phones list a 50MP stabilized main camera, an 8MP ultrawide and a 32MP front camera. iQOO identifies its main sensor as a Sony LYT-700V; Xiaomi promotes 2x telephoto-grade portrait zoom on the REDMI. Those descriptions do not amount to a controlled camera comparison: megapixel counts and feature labels cannot determine which phone takes better photos or video.

Software support, size and protection
Xiaomi specifies HyperOS 3 on Android 16 and states four years of OS updates plus six years of security patches for the REDMI. The cited iQOO product parameters list OriginOS 6.0 but do not state a matching update commitment, so the two support policies cannot be compared on equal terms from these pages.

The REDMI is listed at 229g and 8.57mm or 8.65mm thick, versus 202g or 206g and 7.90mm or 8.10mm for the iQOO, depending on color. Xiaomi advertises IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the REDMI. These are manufacturer claims, not independent durability results; check the product page and regional model details for the precise configuration.

What is the price difference in India?
The 91mobiles comparison accessed October 7, 2026 displayed ₹53,990 for the iQOO 15R and ₹49,999 for the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G through Amazon India listings. Subtracting those displayed figures makes the REDMI ₹3,991 less expensive in that snapshot. The comparison does not establish that the prices remain available now or that the listed phones have matching RAM and storage configurations. Check the current seller, variant, offers and final checkout total before deciding.
For a fair purchase comparison, match storage where possible: the iQOO is listed in 256GB and 512GB options, whereas Xiaomi’s cited specification page lists 256GB. A price difference between unlike configurations may not reflect the cost of choosing one model over the other.

Which one makes more sense?
- Choose the iQOO 15R if: you prioritize its higher-tier stated chipset and a lighter, thinner listed body.
- Consider the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G if: you prefer a larger display, greater stated battery capacity, reverse wired charging, a stated update schedule or the lower price shown in the October 7, 2026 snapshot.
- Do not decide on camera quality or battery life from specifications alone: the listed camera resolutions and battery capacities are not comparative test results.
