In iOS 27, you can change Home Screen icon styles and size, add widgets, personalize the Lock Screen, and arrange Control Center around the actions you use most. The options you see depend on your iPhone model, so check what is available on your device rather than expecting every setting to appear.
How do I customize my iPhone Home Screen in iOS 27?
To change the appearance of your app icons, touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen until the icons begin to jiggle. Tap Edit, then Customize. Apple’s iOS 27 iPhone guide describes light, dark, clear, and tinted styles, along with an option to make icons larger.

Choose an icon style and size
- Light or dark: Choose the presentation that suits your preference and wallpaper.
- Clear: Use a translucent appearance for icons.
- Tinted: Select a color and adjust its saturation. The guide also describes choosing a tint from the wallpaper with an eyedropper.
- Larger icons: Enlarge icons, but note that this hides app names. If you rely on labels to find apps, keep the standard size.

Widgets put information or supported actions on the Home Screen. Touch and hold the background, tap Edit, then choose Add Widget. Select an app, review the available sizes or styles, add a widget, and position it on the screen. The exact choices depend on the app.

Use a widget for something you check repeatedly, such as weather, upcoming calendar events, battery status, or reminders. Some widgets also let you act without opening the app—for example, completing a Reminders item or controlling music—but the available actions depend on the app and widget. Apple’s widget instructions cover adding and arranging widgets and note that options vary by app.
How do I customize my iPhone Lock Screen?
Touch and hold the Lock Screen, then choose Add New to select a wallpaper and customize it. Apple’s iOS 27 wallpaper guide describes using a favorite photo, adjusting the clock’s size, adding widgets, and replacing the bottom controls with options such as Timer or Voice Memo. It also describes a depth effect that can give a wallpaper a spatial look.

Balance convenience with privacy
Lock Screen widgets can expose personal details, such as an upcoming Calendar event, to someone holding your locked phone. To choose what remains accessible, open Settings > Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode, then review Allow Access When Locked. Apple explains the setting in its Lock Screen access guidance. Decide which features are worth keeping available while the iPhone is locked.
How do I customize Control Center?
Open Control Center by swiping down from the upper-right corner on an iPhone with Face ID, or swiping up from the bottom on an iPhone with a Home button. Tap the Add button to edit controls. Apple’s Control Center guide describes adding controls from a gallery, moving or removing them, resizing them, and creating sections. Touch and hold some controls to reveal additional options.

Put frequent actions where they are easiest for you to reach, and use additional sections for controls you need only occasionally. This is an organizational approach, not a required layout; arrange the panel around your habits.
