The iPhone Duo’s fold-open display is its defining advantage; the iPhone 18 Pro is the conventional flagship with Apple’s Pro camera features. Choose the Duo if you want a larger screen that unfolds from a phone-sized outer display and are willing to pay substantially more. Choose the 18 Pro if you prefer a standard phone and place more weight on its camera system. The Duo is announced but, as of October 4, 2026, has not yet gone on sale, and the available specifications do not establish which takes better photos or performs better in a direct test.

Which display format makes more sense?
Choose Duo for an unfolding screen
The Duo’s 7.6-inch inner display gives you a larger canvas when the phone is open, while its 5.4-inch outer display is intended for use while folded. Apple says the outer display has 90 percent of the screen area of iPhone 18 Pro, and that the inner display is 50 percent larger than iPhone 18 Pro Max. Those are Apple’s comparisons; the latter is with the Pro Max, not the standard 18 Pro. Apple’s announcement does not establish how the foldable feels in everyday use or answer questions such as crease visibility and hinge durability.

Choose 18 Pro for a conventional phone
The 18 Pro’s single-screen format avoids the need to unfold the device to use its full display. Apple Support lists its display diagonal as 6.27 inches. Apple lists the phone’s weight as 211 grams; the cited sources do not provide a Duo weight for a like-for-like comparison. Apple Support’s iPhone 18 Pro specifications provide those figures.

Camera: Pro features versus a foldable’s Dual Fusion setup
Apple highlights a 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture on the iPhone 18 Pro. MacRumors’ comparison guide also describes a dedicated telephoto camera and Pro capture controls. Apple calls the Duo’s rear camera system Dual Fusion. These descriptions show a difference in camera positioning and listed features, but they are not comparative photo tests: the available sources do not establish which phone produces better real-world images.
If a dedicated telephoto camera or Pro capture options are central to your buying decision, review the exact camera specifications for the configuration and region you intend to purchase. The 18 Pro’s camera feature list is the clearer fit on the information available, but that alone is not proof of superior image quality. See Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro announcement and MacRumors’ comparison guide.

Performance: the same chip, with a carefully qualified claim
Apple says both models use the A20 Pro chip. That shared specification does not establish that one is faster than the other. Apple’s claim of up to 35 percent better sustained performance for Duo is measured against iPhone 17 Pro, using preproduction Duo units; it is not a comparison with iPhone 18 Pro. Apple’s Duo announcement describes the claim and its comparator.
Price and timing: the Duo costs more and arrives later
MacRumors’ September 16, 2026 guide lists U.S. starting prices of $1,999 for Duo and $1,199 for iPhone 18 Pro, an $800 difference at those listed entry prices. Storage and regional pricing may change the comparison for a particular buyer, so verify the current local price before ordering. MacRumors’ guide is the source for those figures.

Apple says Siri AI will not initially be available in the EU on iOS. Feature availability can depend on geography and software, so do not assume a feature mentioned in an announcement will be available on your device in your region at launch. Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro announcement gives the stated regional caveat.
Which one should you buy?
- Pick iPhone Duo if the option to open a phone into a larger display is worth the listed U.S. starting-price premium to you, and you can wait for its announced October 23 availability.
- Pick iPhone 18 Pro if you want a conventional single-screen phone, prefer Apple’s Pro camera feature set, or want the lower listed U.S. starting price.
- Wait for direct comparisons if your decision depends on photo quality, sustained speed against the 18 Pro, battery life, or fold durability. The cited announcements and specifications do not answer those test-based questions.
If you need a separate wired fast charger, Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro box includes a USB-C charge cable but no power adapter. Apple describes a compatible 60W-capable adapter requirement for wired fast charging under its stated charging setup; buyers who already own a suitable adapter may not need another.
