If you want a lighter phone, more flexible multitasking, or a lower U.S. starting price, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 has the clearer advantages today. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is also worth considering if you want an 8-inch inner display or a 5x optical telephoto camera.
As of October 7, 2026, Apple has announced the Duo but has not yet reached its scheduled retail availability date. This comparison uses U.S. prices where stated; prices and availability can differ by market and change over time.

iPhone Duo vs. a foldable phone: the short answer
- Choose iPhone Duo if you use iOS, value Apple-device continuity, and usually want two apps visible side by side. Apple says its first foldable iPhone supports two-app Split View and saved app pairs.
- Choose Galaxy Z Fold 8 if carrying less weight, paying less at the stated U.S. starting price, or keeping more apps visible matters more. Tom’s Guide reports that it can show up to three apps and use floating windows.
- Compare Pixel 10 Pro Fold if you want a larger inner screen or a dedicated optical telephoto camera. Google lists an 8-inch inner display and 5x optical zoom.
These are decisions based on published specifications and review reporting, not a hands-on comparison. In particular, the Duo had not reached its scheduled U.S. availability date when this article was prepared.

How their screens differ when open and closed
The Duo and Fold 8 both have a stated 7.6-inch inner display, but that diagonal measurement does not tell you how wide or tall the usable screen feels. Their unfolded aspect ratios and folded dimensions differ, so compare the shape as well as the number. Apple lists the Duo’s outside display at 5.4 inches; Tom’s Guide lists the Fold 8’s cover display at 5.5 inches.

Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold takes the larger-screen route: its official specifications list a 6.4-inch outside display and an 8-inch inner display. That extra inner-screen size may suit reading, documents, or viewing content, but it is only one part of the experience; shape, software layout, and how often you open the phone matter too.
What you carry: weight and folded thickness
Tom’s Guide lists the iPhone Duo at 254 g and 11.3 mm thick when closed, compared with 201 g and 9.7 mm for the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The Duo is therefore 53 g heavier and 1.6 mm thicker according to those figures. That difference is likely to matter if you often use a phone one-handed or carry it in a pocket, but it is an inference from dimensions and weight—not a comfort test.
Google lists the Pixel 10 Pro Fold at 9.1 ounces. Folded thickness was not stated in the cited Google specifications, so the available figures do not support a complete thickness comparison across all three phones.

Multitasking: two apps or more windows?
iPhone Duo: a focused two-app layout
Apple says the Duo’s inner screen supports two apps side by side in Split View, two windows of the same app, and saved app pairs. This is a practical match if you tend to keep two tasks visible—for example, a message next to a calendar—and prefer to stay in iOS. Apple announced the phone with iOS 27.1.
Galaxy Z Fold 8: more simultaneous views
Tom’s Guide reports that the Fold 8 can show up to three apps at once and use floating windows. That gives it the stronger stated fit for people who regularly juggle several apps on screen. Consider your actual routine: if you rarely use more than two panes, the extra window flexibility may matter less than ecosystem or portability.
Pixel 10 Pro Fold: compare the workflow, not just the screen
Google’s cited specification page establishes the Pixel’s screen sizes and hardware, but does not provide a comparable app-window count. The available evidence therefore does not establish that it matches the Fold 8’s reported three-app and floating-window workflow.

Price and availability in the United States
| Phone | Stated U.S. starting price | Timing in the cited information |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone Duo | $1,999 for 256 GB (Apple, 2026) | Pre-orders scheduled for October 16, 2026; availability scheduled for October 23 in more than 70 countries and regions, with 28 additional countries and regions from October 30 (Apple, 2026) |
| Galaxy Z Fold 8 | $1,899 for 256 GB (Tom’s Guide, 2026) | Listed as available by Tom’s Guide (2026) |
| Pixel 10 Pro Fold | $1,799 (Google Store specifications, accessed 2026) | Current local availability not stated in the cited specification page |
The Duo’s stated U.S. starting price is $100 above the Fold 8’s and $200 above the Pixel’s. These are point-in-time starting prices, not a universal value verdict; check current local listings and offers before buying.
Battery life: don’t compare unlike tests
Apple claims up to 31 hours of video playback using the Duo’s inner display, up to 44 hours using the outer display, and up to 24 hours when the two are used equally. Apple also claims wired charging to 50% in around 20 minutes and wireless charging to 50% in around 30 minutes with a MagSafe or Qi2 charger. These are manufacturer figures, not independent results.
Tom’s Guide measured 12 hours and 19 minutes for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in its 5G web-browsing battery test, and reported that the phone reached 70% charge in 30 minutes under the reviewer’s test. Web browsing over 5G and video playback are different protocols, so the figures cannot establish which phone lasts longer in the same conditions.

Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold specification page lists a 5,015 mAh typical battery, Qi2 wireless charging up to 15 W, and 24+ hours of battery life. Google’s announcement separately says up to 30+ hours; these are distinct manufacturer statements, not an independent comparison with Apple’s or Tom’s Guide’s figures.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Cameras: when the Pixel is a distinct alternative
The cited comparison lists dual rear cameras for both the Duo and Fold 8, without a telephoto camera. Google’s official Pixel 10 Pro Fold specifications list a triple rear camera with 5x optical telephoto. If you often photograph distant subjects and want optical zoom, that is a meaningful reason to include the Pixel rather than treating this as a two-phone choice. Camera count alone does not establish overall image quality.

Apple’s comparison page lists the Duo as IP68; Tom’s Guide lists the Fold 8 as IP48 and notes that this rating does not include dust resistance. Google lists IP68 for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. These ingress-protection ratings describe rated resistance under defined conditions; they do not establish that a phone is drop-proof, safe from every exposure to dust or sand, or more reliable over years of folding.
Google calls the Pixel’s gearless hinge twice as durable as its predecessor’s and says the phone can handle over 10 years of folding. Those are Google’s manufacturer claims, not independent longitudinal results. The cited sources do not establish a comparative long-term hinge-life or crease-wear statistic for these phones.
Connectivity and ecosystem checks before buying
Apple says the iPhone Duo is eSIM-only worldwide. If you rely on a physical SIM, or need a particular setup while traveling, check with your carrier before ordering. The choice also depends on the devices and services you already use: the Duo is the more straightforward option for someone committed to iOS, while the Fold 8 is the Android alternative in this comparison. The cited material does not establish a complete cross-platform feature comparison, so check the specific apps and services you depend on.
