Is Apple releasing an iPhone 20 in 2027?
There is no confirmed product called iPhone 20. The name is shorthand used in rumors and headlines, not a name Apple has announced. Although 2027 marks 20 years since the original iPhone’s introduction, that anniversary does not establish that Apple will release a special model. Apple’s June 8, 2026 newsroom announcement about its software and ecosystem roadmap did not announce an anniversary iPhone or confirm its name, hardware, price or launch timing: Apple Newsroom.

When could the 20th-anniversary iPhone launch?
Several reports expect a premium anniversary iPhone around fall 2027, with September sometimes suggested in light of Apple’s customary iPhone launch window. This is a reported expectation, not an announced or scheduled release date. MacRumors reported the fall 2027 expectation in July 2026: MacRumors, July 26, 2026. Macworld also discussed the possibility, while noting that there was no hard release-date information: Macworld, September 2026.
What redesign is being reported?
Reports have described a glass-focused or near-all-screen design, potentially with curved glass and very narrow bezels. Those details are rumors, not verified specifications. Reporting has also conflicted on whether the all-glass concept is still in development: a report citing analyst Edison Lee said the concept had been canceled, while a later excerpt attributed to unnamed sources said glass-centric plans remained on track. Neither account settles what Apple will ship.

Could it have under-display Face ID and a camera?
A September 2026 MacRumors rumor roundup said Apple was testing under-display Face ID and a camera, but also said whether the technology would be ready for a 2027 launch was uncertain: MacRumors, September 21, 2026. These reports do not establish that the notch or Dynamic Island will disappear. Testing a technology, if accurately reported, is not confirmation it will appear in a retail phone.
