The iPhone 18 Pro is a conventional 6.3-inch smartphone starting at $1,199 in the U.S.; Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra opens into an 8-inch display and was reported at $2,099.99 for its 256GB U.S. configuration. That puts the reported Fold8 Ultra starting price $900.99 higher, but the prices come from different sources: Apple’s official U.S. price and secondary reporting for Samsung.
iPhone 18 Pro vs Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra: specifications
The defining difference is the design: the iPhone is a standard phone, while the Fold8 Ultra folds open to provide a larger screen. Other specifications below are manufacturer-stated unless noted; they do not amount to a controlled comparison of performance, camera quality, or battery life.

Which phone has the bigger screen?
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has the larger main display: Samsung lists an 8-inch foldable screen, compared with the iPhone 18 Pro’s 6.3-inch OLED. That extra space can suit reading, watching video, and working across apps. The iPhone keeps a conventional phone format, which may be more appealing if you prefer one compact, always-open screen rather than a device that unfolds.

Check the official local store and carriers for current prices and offers before deciding.
What do the camera specifications tell you?
Apple highlights a 48MP Fusion main camera with a variable aperture from ƒ/1.48 to ƒ/4. Samsung highlights a 200MP main camera, HDR at 200MP, and a 50MP ultrawide. Megapixel counts and aperture specifications alone do not show which phone takes better photographs: image processing, lens design, shooting conditions, and individual camera modes also matter. The cited information does not establish a controlled head-to-head camera test, so it cannot support a universal camera winner.

Battery and charging: what can be compared?
Samsung states that the Fold8 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging. Apple provides battery-life test information separately, but the cited figures do not give a directly comparable runtime for the two phones. Battery capacity is not the same as endurance, so the Samsung capacity figure cannot establish which device lasts longer in everyday use.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the iPhone 18 Pro if…
- You want a conventional smartphone rather than a foldable device.
- You prefer a 6.3-inch screen and Apple’s iOS and app ecosystem.
- The lower announced U.S. starting price and a range of storage options fit your budget and needs.
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if…
- You value an 8-inch unfolded display for reading, media, or app multitasking.
- You want a foldable design and the larger screen matters more to you than the price difference.
- You prefer Samsung’s Android ecosystem and its stated camera and charging specifications.
Neither phone is an across-the-board winner on the available specifications. Choose based on screen format and ecosystem first, then compare current local pricing and storage configurations; the listed camera and battery figures do not replace comparable real-world testing.
