In 91mobiles’ September 30, 2026 hands-on comparison, the Galaxy S26 Ultra ranked first overall, with the strongest results for daylight detail, ultrawide shots and the tested low-light scene. The Pixel 11 Pro XL won the 5x zoom and selfie rounds, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max took the portrait round. That makes the best choice a matter of what you shoot—and which rendering style you prefer—rather than one phone winning every situation.
How the three cameras compared
Dhruv Joshi’s 91mobiles comparison, published September 30, 2026, used matched scenes across daylight, zoom, portraits, selfies and low light. The reviewer assessed color and detail, skin tones and subject separation, and low-light noise, stray light and flare. The results below are qualitative judgments from those scenes and tested configurations—not laboratory scores or a guarantee that every photograph will look the same to every viewer.

Samsung is the strongest match if you value the 91mobiles reviewer’s overall result, particularly sharp daylight detail, ultrawide clarity and low-light control of flare and light bleed. The review does not establish that Samsung will beat the others in every scene or for every photographer; its advantage here came from the specific images and conditions assessed.

Choose the Pixel 11 Pro XL for 5x zoom, selfies and realistic color
Pixel won both the 5x zoom and selfie rounds. The reviewer also repeatedly favored its color as realistic or faithful, including in daylight, ultrawide, portraits and low light. If natural-looking color matters more to you than maximum sharpness or a punchier rendering, Pixel may suit you better even though Samsung took the overall result.
Choose the iPhone 18 Pro Max for the tested portrait result and a documented video toolkit
iPhone won the portrait round for subject separation and bokeh. That does not mean it had the most facial detail—the reviewer gave that distinction to Samsung—or the most faithful color, which went to Pixel. For video, Apple lists Dolby Vision 4K recording at up to 120 fps on the main camera, ProRes up to 4K/120 fps with external recording, ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2 and Genlock support. These are manufacturer-listed features, not results independently tested in the three-phone camera comparison.

What the published specifications establish
Camera hardware figures are not directly comparable in isolation: megapixel counts do not determine how a finished photograph looks, and the available listings come from different sources. Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max specifications list a 48MP Fusion main camera with selectable apertures of ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8 and ƒ/4.0, a 48MP ultrawide and a 48MP 100mm/4x telephoto. Apple also lists an 8x optical-quality telephoto setting, 40x digital zoom, 48MP macro photography and Pro controls.

The sources used for this comparison do not establish a definitive Galaxy S26 Ultra specification sheet from Samsung. A separate TechRadar hands-on comparison describes a related Galaxy S26 Ultra system with 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide and separate 3x and 5x telephoto cameras, but it compares the iPhone 18 Pro—not the Pro Max—and should not be treated as a direct three-way Pro Max specification comparison. TechRadar also characterizes the iPhone’s everyday rendering as more natural and Samsung’s as more vibrant and stylized; that is corroboration about those brands’ rendering tendencies, not an additional Pixel comparison or a universal rule.

How to interpret the results
- Color preference is personal. The review often favored Pixel for faithful color, while finding Samsung’s color appealing in daylight. A preference for natural-looking color can lead to a different choice than a preference for sharpness or a more vivid look.
- The ultrawide framing differed. Samsung’s tested mode was 0.6x, compared with 0.5x on iPhone and Pixel, which limits a strict like-for-like framing comparison.
- Portrait strengths were split. iPhone led on separation and bokeh, Pixel on color fidelity, and Samsung on facial detail in the review.
- Low-light results describe one tested scene. Samsung’s detail and flare-control advantage and Pixel’s color advantage should be read as observations from that scene, not a universal nighttime ranking.
- There is no value-for-money verdict here. Current prices, regional model variants and retailer availability are not established by these camera findings.
