Which display suits you better?
The Galaxy S26+ is the larger-screen choice: Samsung lists a 6.7-inch panel at 3120 × 1440, compared with the iPhone 17’s 6.3-inch, 2622 × 1206 display. Both specifications list refresh rates up to 120Hz. The larger Samsung panel may appeal if you want more screen area for reading, video, or multitasking; the smaller iPhone is the more compact option on the display measurements.
The Samsung resolution and display details cited here are from a Canadian business specification page, not a U.S. specification listing. Check the specifications for the exact regional model if you are buying outside Canada.

How do their cameras differ?
On the listed hardware, Apple gives the iPhone 17 a 48MP main camera and a 48MP ultrawide rear camera, plus an 18MP Center Stage front camera. Samsung lists three rear cameras—50MP, 10MP, and 12MP—with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP front camera.
Those configurations point to a practical distinction: Samsung explicitly lists optical zoom, while Apple’s cited rear-camera setup emphasizes main and ultrawide cameras. Megapixel counts alone do not establish which phone takes better photos or video. The available figures are specifications, not results from a controlled camera comparison.

Size, storage and battery claims
Apple lists the iPhone 17 at 177g; Samsung’s Canadian specification lists the Galaxy S26+ at 190g. Together with the display dimensions, that makes the iPhone the lighter, smaller-screen choice on these specifications, while the Samsung offers more display area.
Both cited specification pages list 256GB and 512GB storage options. Apple claims up to 30 hours of video playback, and Samsung’s Canadian page claims up to 31 hours. These are manufacturer figures with different market and test contexts, not a controlled head-to-head battery result; they should not be read as proof that one will last longer in everyday use.

Charging and what comes in the box
Samsung says the Galaxy S26+ package does not include a charger. Apple says the adapter and MagSafe charger for its specified fast-charging setups are sold separately. This may affect the total cost if you need compatible charging equipment, but you may already own what you need.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose iPhone 17 if you prefer a 6.3-inch display, lower listed weight, or Apple’s iOS ecosystem. Apple lists the A19 chip, but the specifications cited here do not establish a comparative speed result against Samsung.
- Choose Galaxy S26+ if a 6.7-inch, higher-resolution display and listed 3x optical zoom better match how you use a phone.
- Compare the actual checkout totals if price is decisive. Use matching storage and account for carrier terms, trade-ins, promotions, and any charging accessories you need.
Neither specification sheet settles real-world performance, camera quality, or battery life. Those questions require comparable testing; the figures above help distinguish features and form factors, not declare an overall winner.
