Which display is the better fit?
Choose the iPhone 17 for a smaller, flat screen
Apple specifies a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with adaptive ProMotion refresh up to 120Hz. Its smaller size is the more natural fit if you prefer a phone that is less expansive in the hand or want a flat-front screen. Apple claims peak outdoor brightness up to 3,000 nits.

Choose the Edge 60 Pro for a larger curved panel
Motorola lists a 6.7-inch quad-curved pOLED display with 2712 × 1220 resolution and 120Hz refresh. The extra screen area may suit video, reading and games, while the curved edges are a clear design preference rather than an automatic advantage. Motorola claims peak brightness of 4,500 nits on its APAC specification page. The brightness figures come from different manufacturers and measurement conditions, so they are not a dependable head-to-head test.

Camera systems: different combinations, no proven winner
The iPhone 17 has two 48MP rear cameras: a Fusion Main with optical-quality 2x telephoto capability and a Fusion Ultra Wide that supports macro photography. Apple also highlights an 18MP Center Stage front camera.
Motorola’s listed Edge 60 Pro setup combines a 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide/macro and 10MP telephoto with optical image stabilization. The cited camera details are market-dependent. A higher megapixel count by itself does not establish better photos, and there is no independent side-by-side camera test behind these specifications. If camera quality is decisive, compare sample photos and video from the exact regional models you can buy.

Battery and charging: capacity versus an endurance claim
Motorola lists a 6,000mAh battery, 90W TurboPower wired charging and 15W wireless charging for the APAC Edge 60 Pro specification. Apple does not provide a battery capacity figure in the cited announcement; it claims up to 30 hours of video playback and says the iPhone 17 can reach 50% charge in 20 minutes using an optional high-wattage USB-C adapter.

iOS or Android—and check the regional software version
The iPhone 17 runs iOS 26 according to Apple’s announcement. Motorola’s support pages identify Android, but the listed version differs by market: its EMEA page lists Android 15, while its APAC page currently lists Android 16. Confirm the model variant, installed update and update availability for your country before purchase rather than assuming every Edge 60 Pro ships with the same software.
The practical choice is also about ecosystem. Consider which apps and services you already use, how you want to move your data, and whether you prefer Apple’s iOS environment or Android’s. Switching platforms can mean adapting to different defaults and account setups; the phone specifications alone cannot decide that preference for you.

Price difference: what the available figures do—and do not—show
Apple’s UK announcement set the iPhone 17 launch price from £799, with 256GB and 512GB configurations. That is a UK launch starting price from 2025, not a current quote.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

A Vodafone UK Business document from 2025 lists the Edge 60 Pro 512GB at £407 standard list price or £437 hardware-only and marks it end-of-life in October 2025. These historical business-list figures are not current consumer offers. Comparing either directly with Apple’s £799 launch starting price would mix different sales terms, dates and storage contexts. The supplied price evidence therefore does not establish a valid current consumer price difference.

Storage, durability and network checks
Match storage before comparing value
Apple’s UK launch options were 256GB and 512GB. The cited UK Edge 60 Pro listing is for 512GB, so it does not provide a like-for-like price against Apple’s starting configuration. Match storage first, then compare the total price and terms offered in your market.
Understand protection claims
Apple cites Ceramic Shield 2 and claims three times better scratch resistance than the prior generation. Motorola’s EMEA specification page lists IP68/IP69 protection and MIL-STD-810H certification. These are not promises that either phone is damage-proof; cases, drops, wear and exposure still matter.

Quick Recap
Which phone should you choose?
- Pick the iPhone 17 if you want iOS, a comparatively smaller 6.3-inch flat display, Apple’s two-camera setup and a UK launch configuration beginning at 256GB.
- Pick the Edge 60 Pro if you prefer Android, a larger curved 6.7-inch display, a listed 6,000mAh battery, high-wattage wired charging and a dedicated telephoto camera.
- Wait to compare current offers if price is the deciding factor. The documented Motorola price is historical and for a business listing, while Apple’s figure is a launch price; neither establishes today’s like-for-like consumer gap.
