The iPhone 17 Pro is the smaller iOS flagship, with Apple’s A19 Pro chip and storage options up to 1TB. The OnePlus 15 has the larger 6.78-inch screen, a 7,300mAh listed battery and a gaming mode that can reach 165Hz. For US buyers, OnePlus announced prices of $899.99 for 256GB and $999.99 for 512GB in November 2025; those figures do not establish today’s price difference versus Apple.

Which phone has the larger display, and which is easier to handle?
The OnePlus 15’s 6.78-inch display is larger than the iPhone 17 Pro’s 6.3-inch display. That extra diagonal gives more screen area for reading, video and games, while the iPhone’s smaller listed size may suit someone who prefers a more compact flagship. Diagonal measurements alone do not determine how either phone feels in the hand; body dimensions and personal grip matter too.

Refresh rate: 120Hz versus 165Hz gaming mode
Apple describes ProMotion as adaptive refresh up to 120Hz. OnePlus lists an adaptive 1–120Hz range for ordinary use and a maximum 165Hz specifically in gaming. The 165Hz figure is not a claim that the entire OnePlus interface runs at that rate all the time, and it is not directly equivalent to Apple’s stated ProMotion maximum.

How much does the iPhone 17 Pro cost compared with the OnePlus 15?
OnePlus announced North American launch prices on November 13, 2025: US$899.99 for the 12GB/256GB model and US$999.99 for 16GB/512GB. OnePlus’s US product page displayed the same prices when checked, but it is a dynamic page and its figures may change. The announcement notes that US pricing is subject to change due to market conditions. See the OnePlus North American launch announcement and OnePlus US product page.
Those OnePlus figures are not a verified current price gap against the iPhone. Apple’s cited support page is a specification sheet, not a current price listing. For a fair comparison, check the Apple Store and OnePlus or authorized sellers on the day you buy, compare the same or nearest storage capacity, and distinguish an unlocked price from a carrier deal or temporary promotion. Prices also depend on country, seller and configuration. A third-party comparison page lists a conflicting OnePlus starting price, so manufacturer sources are the better basis for the official launch figures; see PhoneArena’s comparison for its separate listing.

What do the battery and charging figures tell you?
OnePlus lists a 7,300mAh battery for the US OnePlus 15. That is a capacity figure, not a measured runtime: it does not by itself show how long the phone lasts under a particular mix of gaming, video, calls and standby. The cited Apple specification page does not give an iPhone 17 Pro battery capacity, so these sources do not support a direct capacity or endurance comparison.
For the US OnePlus 15, OnePlus lists 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging and 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging. Its official global specifications page has been reported with a different wired figure, so do not assume the US rating applies to every regional model. Verify the exact local SKU before purchase. Apple lists MagSafe wireless charging; the cited material does not establish an equivalent wired-wattage figure for comparison.

Which phone makes more sense for your apps and ecosystem?
Choose around software and devices you already use
The operating systems are a practical dividing line: iPhone 17 Pro runs iOS, while the US OnePlus 15 runs Android 16 with OxygenOS 16. If your daily workflow depends on Apple devices or services, the iPhone is the natural ecosystem fit. If you prefer Android, OnePlus’s software and larger display may be a better match. These are platform-fit considerations, not a claim that one operating system is universally better.
Chip names are not a substitute for comparable tests
Apple lists the A19 Pro and OnePlus lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Those names identify the processors, but the specifications cited here do not provide controlled, comparable benchmark results or sustained-load measurements. For demanding games, video work or other long sessions, seek testing that uses the exact models and comparable conditions rather than inferring real-world speed from chip labels.

Storage and memory
Apple offers iPhone 17 Pro storage in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB configurations. OnePlus lists the US OnePlus 15 in 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB configurations, with LPDDR5X memory. Neither cited specification set lists expandable storage. Consider how much space your photos, video, apps and offline media need before choosing a tier; the 1TB iPhone option has no listed OnePlus counterpart in the US configurations covered here.
What can the camera specifications establish?
Apple lists three 48MP rear cameras on the iPhone 17 Pro: main, ultra-wide and telephoto. The cited OnePlus US specification page does not state comparable camera details, so a camera-hardware comparison cannot be completed from these records. Megapixel counts alone also do not establish which phone produces better photos or video. Look for independent side-by-side samples and video testing of these exact models if camera quality is decisive; this comparison makes no image-quality verdict.
Quick Recap
How to choose between the two
- Favor the iPhone 17 Pro if you want iOS, Apple ecosystem continuity, a smaller listed display, or storage up to 1TB.
- Favor the OnePlus 15 if you want a larger display, Android, a listed 7,300mAh battery, or a gaming mode with a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz.
- Compare local prices before deciding if cost is central: match storage and sales terms, and check current regional listings rather than treating OnePlus’s November 2025 launch prices as today’s price gap.
- Wait for model-specific testing if battery endurance, camera results or sustained performance will determine your purchase; the specifications alone do not settle those comparisons.
