There is not yet a reliable, like-for-like iPhone 17 Pro Max vs iQOO 16 comparison: Apple publishes confirmed specifications for its 2025 phone, while the available iQOO 16 listings disagree on key specs and availability. That means a current price difference or overall winner cannot be stated responsibly. Here is what Apple confirms—and what buyers should verify before treating an iQOO 16 listing as a real alternative.
At a glance: confirmed iPhone specs, unconfirmed iQOO comparison
Apple identifies the iPhone 17 Pro Max as a 2025 model and publishes its specifications. The iQOO figures appearing on comparison sites are inconsistent, and the sources cited here do not include an official iQOO product page or announcement resolving those differences.

What Apple confirms about the iPhone 17 Pro Max
Display
Apple specifies a 6.9-inch OLED panel with 2868 × 1320 resolution and 460 pixels per inch. Its stated maximums are adaptive refresh up to 120Hz and outdoor brightness up to 3,000 nits. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of how the screen performs in every setting. Apple’s technical specifications
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- When you receive the phone, insert a SIM card from a compatible carrier. Then, turn it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and follow the on screen prompts to activate service.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charger and charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Cameras and storage
The rear system has a 48MP main camera, a 48MP ultra wide and a 48MP telephoto camera. Apple describes its optical-quality zoom range as up to 8× in and 2× out. The listed storage options are 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. Megapixel counts and zoom labels alone do not establish which phone takes better photos; that requires comparable sample images and information about lens behavior, stabilization and video modes.
Weight and water resistance
Apple lists the phone at 233g. Its IP68 rating is specified under IEC 60529 and based on controlled laboratory testing at a maximum depth of 6 meters for up to 30 minutes. Apple cautions that water resistance can decrease through normal wear and that liquid damage is not covered by warranty. This is a manufacturer rating, not a promise that every real-world immersion is safe. Apple Support

Why an iQOO 16 spec comparison is not settled
The comparison pages do not agree on basic hardware. 91mobiles labels the phone “Upcoming” and lists a 6.85-inch, 165Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and 8400mAh battery. Smartprix gives the same display and battery figures and shows ₹89,999, but its page was last updated September 29, 2026 and pairs that figure with a 2TB iPhone price of ₹229,900—not a confirmed, matched base-storage comparison. Cashify’s June 29, 2026 comparison instead lists a 6.88-inch, 144Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and 6500mAh battery.
Those differences cannot be reconciled from the sources cited here. Until iQOO publishes the model’s specifications and launch or sales details for the relevant country, treat these figures as unverified listings rather than facts. No independently comparable head-to-head benchmark, battery endurance test or camera test is established here.

Can you calculate the price difference?
No defensible current price difference is available from these listings. The Smartprix figures compare a stated ₹89,999 iQOO price with a 2TB iPhone at ₹229,900, while 91mobiles says the iQOO price is unavailable at stores. The prices are not established as the same seller type, date, availability status or equivalent storage tier, and the iQOO model itself is not officially confirmed by the sources cited here.
For a useful comparison, check local listings on the same date and compare the closest storage configurations. Record whether each figure is a list price or a live offer, whether the phone is in stock, and whether the seller is authorized. Avoid using a price from one country to infer the difference in another.
What to verify before choosing between them
- Confirm the iQOO 16 exists as a launched product in your market. Look for an official iQOO announcement or product page and local stock, rather than relying on an “upcoming” comparison entry.
- Match the prices fairly. Use the same country, date and retailer class, and compare the closest equivalent storage tiers. Note discounts, stock status and whether the price is promotional.
- Compare displays beyond refresh rate. Check resolution, size, adaptive refresh behavior and brightness, then look for independent measurements. A higher stated refresh rate by itself does not prove a better screen.
- Compare camera capabilities and results. Check lens roles, zoom, stabilization, video modes and samples taken under comparable conditions; megapixel totals are not a complete quality measure.
- Separate battery capacity from battery life. Capacity figures do not establish endurance. Compare measured results only when the test conditions and phone versions are disclosed; assess charging speed using stated test conditions as well.
- Check ownership details for your country. Confirm operating-system preference, update commitments, warranty, repair access, supported network bands and SIM configuration using local evidence.
What comes in the iPhone box
Apple says the iPhone 17 Pro Max includes a 1-meter USB-C charging cable but not a power adapter. A compatible USB-C adapter may be useful if you do not already have one; the box contents do not mean every buyer needs to purchase a new adapter. Apple Support
