The OnePlus 15R is the larger-screen option, with a manufacturer-listed refresh rate up to 165Hz and 7,400mAh typical battery capacity; the iPhone 15 is smaller and lighter, and offers MagSafe wireless charging plus a sensor-enabled 2x camera option. A reliable current price difference cannot be stated without a country, seller, storage tier and handset condition: Apple’s often-quoted US price of $799 was the iPhone 15’s September 2023 launch price, not a current quote.
At a glance: how the specifications differ
The figures below are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent tests. OnePlus’s US specifications page notes that details may change with product batches and supply factors, so check the relevant regional page when buying.

Which phone has the better display and size?
The 15R gives you a 6.83-inch screen, compared with 6.1 inches on the iPhone 15. Its listed resolution is higher in total pixels, while the iPhone’s stated pixel density is slightly higher: 460 ppi versus 450 ppi. The key practical distinction is screen area: the 15R is much larger, and at 214–215g it is also heavier than the 171g iPhone.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.1inch Super Retina XDR display. Aluminum with color-infused glass back. Ring/Silent switch
- Dynamic Island. A magical way to interact with iPhone. A16 Bionic chip with 5-core GPU
- Advanced dual-camera system. 48MP Main | Ultra Wide. Super-high-resolution photos (24MP and 48MP). Next-generation portraits with Focus and Depth Control. 4X optical zoom range
- Emergency SOS via satellite. Crash Detection. Roadside Assistance via satellite
- Up to 26 hours video playback. USB C, Supports USB 2. Face ID
OnePlus lists adaptive refresh rates through 165Hz, but its specifications restrict 144Hz and 165Hz to listed apps. Apple’s cited iPhone 15 specifications do not list a high-refresh-rate mode. That makes the 15R the more clearly specified choice on paper for high-refresh scrolling or animation; it does not mean every app runs at its maximum rate.
How do the platforms, cameras and battery claims compare?
Chip and storage
The 15R lists a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip with 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra memory. The iPhone 15 lists Apple’s A16 Bionic, with a six-core CPU, five-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. Those component descriptions are not benchmark results, so they do not support a measured performance ranking. Storage starts at 256GB on the 15R and 128GB on the iPhone 15; compare like-for-like capacity when checking prices.

Camera hardware
OnePlus lists a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Apple lists a 48MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a sensor-enabled 12MP 2x telephoto option. Apple’s 2x option is not a separate rear camera module. The 15R’s front camera is listed at 32MP with autofocus, while the iPhone’s 12MP TrueDepth front camera also has autofocus. Megapixel counts and hardware lists alone cannot determine which phone produces better photos.
Battery and charging
OnePlus lists 7,400mAh typical battery capacity for the 15R. Apple instead states that the iPhone 15 provides up to 20 hours of video playback. Capacity and a manufacturer playback estimate use different measures, so they cannot be compared as a direct battery-life result.

For wired charging, OnePlus lists 55W SUPERVOOC on its US specifications page and separately describes an up-to-80W capability with its named 100W adapter. Check regional specifications and adapter requirements rather than assuming those figures apply to every market or included charger. Apple lists USB-C and wireless charging: MagSafe and Qi2 up to 15W, and Qi up to 7.5W.
What is the price difference?
A current, defensible price difference is not established here. Apple announced a US starting price of $799 for the iPhone 15 in September 2023; that is historical launch pricing, not a present-day retail quote. The available OnePlus product information does not provide a price, and the 15R’s availability is market-specific. Check live listings in your country before deciding which costs less.

For a meaningful comparison, match the country or region, storage capacity, condition (new, refurbished or used), seller and warranty. This matters especially because the 15R is listed with 256GB and 512GB options, while the iPhone 15 also has a 128GB configuration. Do not treat a 128GB iPhone listing and a 256GB 15R listing as equivalent offers.

Which one fits your priorities?
Consider the OnePlus 15R if
- You want a larger 6.83-inch display and a high refresh rate listed for supported apps.
- You prefer Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 and want a 256GB or 512GB storage configuration.
- You value its stated 7,400mAh typical battery capacity as a specification, while recognizing it is not a direct measure of real-world battery life against Apple’s playback claim.
Consider the iPhone 15 if
- You want a smaller, lighter handset: 171g and a 6.1-inch display.
- You prefer iOS or want MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging support.
- You value the listed camera configuration, including Apple’s sensor-enabled 2x telephoto option.
Before purchasing either phone, also check local carrier-band and eSIM support, warranty terms, software-update policy, the charging adapter situation and the current price for the exact configuration. A definitive recommendation on performance, camera quality, endurance or long-term support would require evidence beyond these published specifications.
