There is no authoritative list of ten providers that directly replace IONOS. The right alternative depends on which IONOS product you are replacing: a domain registration, a shared or WordPress hosting plan, or a VPS or cloud server. Seven providers appear in 2026 comparisons as plausible options: Namecheap, Hostinger, SiteGround, Bluehost, DreamHost, GoDaddy, and DigitalOcean. Treat them as a shortlist to verify against each provider’s own plans, not as a ranking.
Start by identifying the IONOS service you are replacing
IONOS’s own hosting page presents domains, websites, VPS, and cloud products as parts of one broader offering. That makes it easy to assume that any provider selling “hosting” can take over the whole account. In practice these are different purchase categories, and a provider that suits one may be a poor fit for another.

| Category | What it covers | Candidates to check |
|---|---|---|
| Domain registration | Buying, renewing, and managing domain names and DNS records | Namecheap, GoDaddy |
| Shared and WordPress hosting | Provider-managed server, control panel, and website tools for a single site or a few sites | Hostinger, SiteGround, Bluehost, DreamHost, GoDaddy, Namecheap |
| VPS and cloud | Virtual servers where the customer configures and maintains more of the software stack | DigitalOcean, Namecheap (VPS listed on its hosting page) |
Compare like with like
A managed shared-hosting plan is not equivalent to a cloud server. With shared or managed WordPress hosting, the provider generally handles much of the server configuration, and the customer manages the website. With a VPS or cloud server, the customer takes on more of the stack, including updates, security hardening, and scaling. Moving a small brochure site to a cloud server because it looks cheaper per month can mean taking on work you previously did not have to do.

- Service category: domain, shared or managed WordPress, VPS, cloud, or dedicated server.
- Management burden: who performs routine server configuration, software updates, security tasks, and scaling.
- Full-term cost: introductory price, billing commitment, renewal price, and fees for add-ons you need.
- Included services: domain, email, SSL or security, migration, backups, and website tools. Confirm each one on the provider’s current product page.
- Support and usability: available support channels, the control panel, and whether you or your team can operate the service.
Compare the full contract, not the introductory price
Low introductory prices are the most common reason a switch disappoints. Before you move, work through the contract for each shortlisted provider:
- Note the introductory price and the billing term it applies to.
- Find the renewal price in the checkout flow for your country or currency, and record the date you checked it.
- List the add-ons you actually need, such as a domain, email accounts, SSL or security, migration help, or backups, and check which ones are bundled.
- Confirm the support channels and whether the control panel suits your skill level.
- Read the renewal and cancellation terms directly on the provider’s site.
Namecheap’s hosting page notes that the competitor prices it displays reflect advertised annual rates and may change. That page was updated June 15, 2026, so any figure you see there should be rechecked before you rely on it. IONOS itself advises looking for transparent pricing and flexible contract terms. That is sensible guidance, but it comes from IONOS and is not independent proof that any competitor is better.
The seven candidates
These are providers to investigate further. They are not ranked, and the notes below describe how each is characterized in the sources reviewed, not how they performed in hands-on testing.
Rank #2
Namecheap
Namecheap’s official hosting page lists shared, WordPress, VPS, and dedicated hosting and also references domain registration. It is the only candidate in this list whose own materials point to both a domain and a hosting plan, which can simplify a move if you want one vendor for both. Verify current regional offers before you quote a price.

Hostinger
A 2026 third-party comparison includes Hostinger among low-cost web hosts and describes it as a common option for standard shared-hosting sites. Those feature and value judgments are the reviewer’s, and they have not been independently verified here. Check the plan scope, renewal price, and included features on Hostinger’s own site.
SiteGround
The comparison sources characterize SiteGround as a choice for sites that prioritize managed support and performance. Confirm the plan scope and renewal cost on SiteGround’s own site before relying on those distinctions, since they are not stated as measured results.
Bluehost
Bluehost is framed in the comparison material as a WordPress-oriented host that is accessible to beginners. Confirm the current WordPress features, plan limits, and terms with Bluehost directly.
Rank #4
DreamHost
DreamHost appears among the providers in a 2026 hosting comparison. That source does not establish how its strengths compare with IONOS, so you will need to evaluate its plans against your own requirements.

GoDaddy also appears in a 2026 hosting comparison, without a stated comparison against IONOS. It is a well-known domain registrar as well as a host, so it is worth checking if you need domains and hosting from one account. Compare renewal prices and bundled services on its checkout pages.
Best Value
DigitalOcean
DigitalOcean is a cloud and VPS provider rather than a shared-hosting service. A community discussion describes it as developer-oriented infrastructure. It suits readers who are comfortable administering a server. Verify product details, pricing, and billing units in DigitalOcean’s official documentation before making a decision.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the evidence does not establish
The available material does not include a verified head-to-head test of IONOS against these providers, nor current renewal prices across them. It also contains no authoritative uptime, speed, or customer-count figures and no attributed statement from a regulator or standards body that would settle the choice. If a comparison you read quotes a number like these, check who measured it, when, and under what plan.
How to choose
- You only need to move a domain: compare Namecheap and GoDaddy on renewal price, bundled services, and transfer conditions shown at checkout.
- You need shared or small-business website hosting: shortlist Hostinger, SiteGround, Bluehost, DreamHost, GoDaddy, and Namecheap, then compare full-term costs and support.
- Your site runs on WordPress: start with Bluehost, which is framed as WordPress-oriented, and check whether Namecheap’s WordPress plan or SiteGround’s managed plans cover your needs.
- You need a VPS or cloud server: consider DigitalOcean, or Namecheap’s VPS plans, but only if you can handle updates, security, and configuration yourself.
If you cannot manage a server, avoid moving to a VPS or cloud product just to lower a monthly bill. For most IONOS customers with a website, the realistic replacements are the managed shared and WordPress hosts listed above.
