Interview Mitraha is a local-first practice companion for rehearsing job-interview answers—not a test that scores candidates or decides whether they are ready. Its creator says typed practice and Gemma’s replies stay on the learner’s computer; voice input has a separate privacy caveat because speech recognition is handled by the browser.
What Interview Mitraha does
The learner chooses a role, gets a warm-up question, then types or speaks an answer in English, Hindi, or Hinglish. For example, a session might begin with “Tell me about yourself.” Gemma responds with follow-up conversation intended to help the learner find their own words rather than memorize a prepared script. Where supported, browser speech synthesis can read replies aloud.

The project is built with plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Its purpose is a low-pressure place to rehearse answers, not an evaluator: it does not establish whether someone is qualified, ready for a job, or likely to succeed in an interview.
Does interview practice run locally?
According to project author acceptedsoul_11, the app’s Node.js server runs on loopback, validates and bounds conversation messages, and sends them to Ollama running on the same computer. Ollama runs gemma3:4b; the conversation path is described as not calling a hosted model API. Typed answers and model inference are therefore described as staying on the learner’s computer. The author says typed practice can work offline after the model has been downloaded.

Initial setup requires Node.js and Ollama. On first run, the author reports an approximately 3.3 GB Gemma model download; that is an author-reported approximate download size, not an independent measurement or a guarantee of the download size on every system. Local inference also depends on capable hardware and electricity, but the project article does not specify minimum CPU, GPU, RAM, or storage requirements. Check compatibility for the chosen model and computer rather than assuming a particular laptop will run it.
Is voice input private?
Not necessarily. Speech recognition comes from the browser, and its handling depends on the browser and its configured speech service: the author says some browsers process recognition on-device, while others may send audio to that service. That means the local model setup alone does not establish that voice audio stays on the computer.

Mitraha displays a transcript for the learner to review before sending its text to local Gemma. This gives the learner a chance to correct or discard a recognition result before it enters the model conversation; it does not change how the browser handled the audio during recognition. The author’s stated boundary is: “I’d rather say exactly where the boundary is than make a blanket ‘everything is private’ claim.”

The project is documented by its creator, not independently tested. The author says the intended friend has not yet tried it: “I haven’t handed it to my friend for feedback yet, so I don’t have a reaction to quote. That real-world tryout is still ahead of me.” There is consequently no user feedback here to support claims that Mitraha improves confidence, interview performance, or job outcomes.

The project article describes nine automated HTTP tests, but those tests are not evidence of learner benefit or interview effectiveness. The practical case for Mitraha is its specific local conversation workflow and transcript-review step, with voice privacy dependent on browser behavior.
