The right gaming graphics card depends on the specific models you can buy at similar prices, how they perform in your games at your target resolution, and whether their features and physical requirements suit your PC. Compare cards model by model—not Intel, AMD and Nvidia as if each brand made just one kind of GPU.
How to compare graphics cards fairly
Start with cards in the same price range, sold in the same country and available at the time you plan to buy. A manufacturer’s suggested price is not the same as a retailer’s current price, and availability can vary by region. A review recommendation is useful context, not a guarantee that a card is still good value at today’s local price.
For performance, look for tests of the games you play at your resolution and settings. Comparisons are most useful when they use the same game version, resolution, graphics settings, processor and broadly comparable drivers. Average frame rates show overall speed; 1% lows can help reveal dips and uneven-feeling gameplay. Check whether a review enabled ray tracing, upscaling or frame generation before comparing its results with native rendering.
- Price: Compare actual local street prices, not one card’s MSRP against another card’s discounted price.
- Performance: Prioritize same-game results at your target resolution, and examine 1% lows when available.
- Features: Check support for the games you play and the specific GPU generation, not just the brand name.
- Fit: Verify the exact board’s length, thickness, power connectors and power requirements against your case and power supply.
The sources available for this comparison do not establish a standardized, independent benchmark that settles all three brands across current cards. Manufacturer feature claims and any one publication’s picks cannot substitute for model-level testing across the games and prices relevant to you.

What current card examples can—and cannot—tell you
Tom’s Guide’s 2026 graphics-card roundup offers examples of different buying contexts: it presents the Intel Arc B580 as a budget-oriented option for 1080p and 1440p gaming, and compares AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT with Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. Its Radeon value and feature observations describe that publication’s tested context; they are not guarantees for every game, driver, price or market. Check the review’s results and your local prices before treating any recommendation as a match for your needs.

The B570’s power and connector details are not specifications for the B580, other Arc cards, or a comparison against the other cards in the table. Board designs can differ even when GPUs share a model name.

How ray tracing, upscaling and frame generation affect the choice
These features can change the experience, but support depends on the game and, in some cases, the GPU generation. They should be treated as part of the comparison—not assumed from the brand alone. Compare the same game and settings, and distinguish a natively rendered frame rate from a figure that includes generated frames.
Ray tracing: check the game and the GPU
Intel says that support for ray tracing on another manufacturer’s GPU does not guarantee that the game supports it on Arc. Its support article, last reviewed December 20, 2024, puts it plainly: “Even if a game currently supports Ray-Tracing on other manufacturer’s GPUs, the game developer will still need to add support for this feature on Intel® Arc™.” Check whether the title supports the feature on the exact card you plan to buy, then compare tested performance with the settings you intend to use.

Upscaling and frame generation: check the version and generation
Nvidia’s DLSS hardware table distinguishes feature support by RTX generation. Its table lists DLSS Super Resolution across RTX 20, 30, 40 and 50 series, while newer frame-generation features are limited to newer generations. The name “DLSS” alone therefore does not tell you which features a particular RTX card can use.
AMD’s FSR page likewise separates features and supported GPU series by version. AMD describes FSR Redstone as a suite of machine-learning-powered features; its page says ML FSR upscaling is available on RX 7000 and RX 9000 series, with RX 6000 support described as launching in 2027. That is AMD’s stated roadmap, not a guarantee that availability or support conditions will remain unchanged. Consult AMD’s current feature and game-support information before relying on it.

Intel says XeSS is implemented using open standards and can work on Intel and other vendors’ hardware when the driver supports Shader Model 6.4. That does not mean every game offers XeSS: developers must integrate the feature into the title, and the driver must meet the stated requirement.
Game integration matters across all three ecosystems. AMD describes its newer FSR features as options developers can implement, and its supported-games list sets out title, driver and other compatibility conditions for some Redstone features. Nvidia reported more than 250 games and apps for DLSS 4 on January 5, 2026; that is Nvidia’s adoption count, not independent evidence that DLSS delivers better image quality or performance than alternatives in a particular game.

Check the exact card against your PC
Before buying, look up the manufacturer’s specifications for the specific card model, not just the GPU family. Partner cards can have different dimensions, cooling designs, power draw and connector requirements. Confirm that the card fits the case and that the power supply has the required connectors and capacity; the B570 figures above illustrate why a specification for one Arc model should not be generalized to the rest of the brand.
- Measure available case clearance and check the card’s listed length and slot thickness.
- Confirm the required power connectors and the manufacturer’s power-supply guidance.
- Check VRAM and other card specifications for the games and settings you expect to use.
- If you also stream, edit video or run creative or AI applications, check performance in those specific applications instead of assuming gaming benchmarks predict it.
A practical buying decision
- Set the constraints: Write down your budget, country, target resolution, games, case clearance and power-supply details.
- Make a shortlist: Find cards that are actually available near your budget; treat review picks such as the Arc B580 or the RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti comparison as candidates, not automatic answers.
- Compare relevant tests: Use same-game results at your resolution and settings. Separate native rendering from results using upscaling or generated frames, and check ray-tracing tests if you plan to enable it.
- Verify features and fit: Check the exact game’s support, the GPU generation’s feature eligibility, and the exact board’s dimensions and power requirements.
- Choose on value for your use: At the prices available to you, select the card that best meets your performance and feature needs without exceeding your system’s limits.
If you need a shortcut, the question is not “Which brand is best?” but “Which specific card gives me the performance and features I want in my games for the price I can pay, and will it work in my PC?” That is the comparison a broad brand label cannot answer.
