HotHardware’s December 12, 2024 review found that the Intel Arc B580 could compete with or beat established rivals in some tests, but its results varied considerably by game and graphics API. This page covers the review’s synthetic benchmarks and selected DX11/Vulkan game tests—not a current-driver retest or the entire review.
What the synthetic benchmarks show
HotHardware tested the B580 in 3DMark Steel Nomad, Speed Way and Time Spy. These tests are useful points of comparison, but they are not interchangeable with performance across a library of games.

- Steel Nomad: HotHardware describes this as a 4K raster test and reports a narrow B580 win.
- Speed Way: In this ray-tracing test, the B580 fell several places in the rankings, though it beat Intel’s previous-generation cards.
- Time Spy: The B580 beat every tested contender except the Radeon RX 7700 XT. HotHardware cautions that Arc cards have tended to do particularly well in 3DMark, so this result should not be treated as a stand-in for game performance.
These are results from HotHardware’s original December 2024 review setup. They do not establish how the card performs with current drivers, game versions or settings. Read HotHardware’s benchmark page.
Game results depend on the title and settings
HotHardware’s DX11 and Vulkan results do not point to a single, consistent ranking for the B580. Resolution, rendering mode, upscaling and game-specific behavior all affect what a result means.
#1 Best Overall
- OC Edition Boost Clock: 2760MHz
- TORN Cooling 2.0
- Metal Backplate
- Blue Breathing Light
- Graphic card sag bracket
- Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail: The B580 matched the Radeon RX 6750 XT in the benchmark used by the review.
- Warframe 1999: In the review’s 4K test using FSR, the B580 trailed the RTX 4060 Ti and a high-end Radeon card.
- Zenless Zone Zero: At native 4K, HotHardware reported a B580 win. Nvidia cards nevertheless delivered more consistent frame times in that test.
- Palworld: The reviewers found runs less repeatable because creature and object spawns varied. Its results should be read with that run-to-run variation in mind.
The findings describe specific tests in one review, not a universal ranking. A useful comparison should match the game, resolution, settings, graphics API and upscaling mode—and consider frame-time consistency as well as average FPS.
Compatibility and frame pacing change the picture
Selaco: the renderer workaround matters
Selaco defaulted to Vulkan and crashed on Arc in HotHardware’s test. The reviewers switched to OpenGL and reported poor Arc performance, attributing it partly to that workaround; they said they had reported the issue to Intel. The result therefore reflects a compatibility problem and a different rendering path, rather than a straightforward comparison under the game’s default renderer. It should not be treated as evidence of how the game performs on every Arc system or on current drivers.
Baldur’s Gate 3: average FPS did not tell the whole story
HotHardware recorded a 65.2 FPS average for the B580 in Baldur’s Gate 3 but also described frame-pacing issues on Battlemage. The average alone does not capture the smoothness concern noted by the reviewers.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: demanding even at 1080p
In HotHardware’s test, the game was demanding even at 1080p High. Among the tested group, the B580 showed the most consistent frame times. That observation applies to the review’s particular setup and tested group, not every configuration.
How to interpret these results today
This page is historical evidence from a review published December 12, 2024, not a retest with current drivers. Cross-review comparisons also need care: GamersNexus found that the B580’s relative performance changed across 4K, 1440p and 1080p in its test suite, and noted frame-time behavior and idle power among its caveats. Its test bench, drivers, game versions and settings may differ from HotHardware’s, so the two reviews should not be combined into one direct ranking. See GamersNexus’ B580 review.
For a buying decision, compare results from the games you actually play at your target resolution and settings. Check whether the test used native rendering or upscaling, whether it involved ray tracing, and whether frame-time data or only average FPS is reported. Compatibility and renderer workarounds can matter as much as a headline score.
