La documentación oficial describe una instalación mediante comandos Docker; no confirma un instalador universal «en un clic» para cualquier VPS. Esta guía cubre el recorrido práctico desde el servidor hasta una primera notificación.
Qué necesitas antes de instalarlo
- Un VPS con Linux y acceso administrativo por terminal.
- Docker y Docker Compose instalados y operativos.
- El archivo Compose oficial del proyecto, revisado antes de ejecutarlo para identificar los puertos, el almacenamiento y los servicios incluidos.
La documentación consultada no fija requisitos oficiales de CPU o memoria para este escenario. La capacidad adecuada depende, entre otros factores, del número de páginas vigiladas, la frecuencia de consulta y si utilizas el navegador Chrome. No hay una cifra mínima que se pueda recomendar con respaldo en esas fuentes.

Un VPS es una forma de alojar el servicio, no un requisito propio de changedetection.io: el proyecto documenta la ejecución con Docker. La guía oficial y sus instrucciones vigentes están en el repositorio de changedetection.io.
Cómo instalar changedetection.io con Docker Compose
1. Revisa la configuración de Compose
Obtén el archivo Compose desde la documentación oficial del proyecto y revísalo antes de iniciar los servicios. Comprueba qué puerto publica la aplicación, dónde se guardan los datos y si incluye un navegador opcional. La composición exacta puede cambiar con el tiempo, así que no copies un número de puerto o una ruta de un tutorial antiguo sin cotejarla con el archivo vigente.

2. Inicia los contenedores
Desde el directorio que contiene el archivo Compose, ejecuta:
docker compose up -dEl comando inicia los servicios en segundo plano. Si la interfaz no está disponible, comprueba primero el estado y los registros del contenedor con Docker Compose; los logs permiten detectar errores de inicio o configuración. No abras ni expongas puertos adicionales sin verificar qué publica el archivo que estás usando.
3. Conserva los datos fuera del contenedor
changedetection.io guarda su estado en /datastore. La configuración Docker oficial muestra cómo montar un volumen en esa ruta; el archivo Compose también debe mantener definido el volumen o bind mount correspondiente. Así, los datos no dependen del ciclo de vida del contenedor: al reemplazarlo o actualizar la imagen, conserva ese almacenamiento y evita eliminarlo como parte de una limpieza.

La ejecución Docker independiente del README también ilustra un volumen llamado datastore-volume montado en /datastore. En Compose, revisa que el montaje equivalente siga presente antes de recrear los servicios.
4. Abre la interfaz y crea una watch
Cuando el contenedor esté activo, accede a la interfaz usando el host y el puerto que expone tu archivo Compose. Completa la configuración inicial si aparece y añade una URL como watch de prueba. El servicio está pensado para detectar cambios en páginas y notificar; el proyecto menciona, entre otros usos, el seguimiento de texto y las alertas de disponibilidad o precio.
Cómo configurar una alerta y comprobarla
Las notificaciones se asocian a una watch: puedes añadir una o más URL de destino desde la configuración de esa página. changedetection.io usa Apprise para integrar destinos de mensajería, correo y APIs. Para empezar, configura el destino que quieres utilizar en la propia watch y usa la opción de prueba que ofrezca el flujo de configuración, si está disponible.

La documentación oficial de la API también describe operaciones para consultar y añadir destinos, pero no hace falta usar la API para configurar la primera alerta desde la interfaz.

- Consulta los registros del contenedor y busca errores relacionados con la notificación.
- Revisa que el destino esté configurado correctamente y asociado a la watch.
- Ten en cuenta que algunos servicios limitan el tamaño del mensaje. La wiki oficial de troubleshooting advierte que incluir snapshots muy extensos puede causar fallos.
Cuándo usar el fetcher Chrome
changedetection.io permite elegir entre un fetcher HTTP integrado y un fetcher basado en Chrome. Para páginas cuyo contenido aparece o cambia mediante JavaScript, Chrome puede ser la opción necesaria para capturar el contenido que el fetcher HTTP no obtiene. El Compose oficial incluye un servicio opcional de navegador, sockpuppetbrowser, recomendado para este tipo de caso.

Selecciona el fetcher adecuado para cada sitio en su configuración. No hace falta añadir Chrome para todas las watches; úsalo cuando la página lo necesite y sigue las instrucciones oficiales para conectar el servicio navegador.

Cómo actualizar sin perder las watches
El README identifica :latest como la versión estable más reciente y :dev como la rama de desarrollo. Para una instalación normal, no elijas :dev como opción predeterminada. La receta de actualización publicada para Compose es:
docker compose pull && docker compose up -dAntes de actualizar, confirma que el volumen o bind mount de /datastore sigue definido en Compose. Tras recrear los servicios, verifica que la aplicación vuelve a funcionar y que tus watches siguen presentes. Las etiquetas de imagen y las instrucciones pueden cambiar; consulta el registro de la imagen Docker y el README oficial al realizar el despliegue.
¿Es una configuración en un clic?
No como promesa general para todos los VPS. La documentación oficial consultada enseña la instalación con Docker y Compose, que requiere seguir instrucciones en la terminal y revisar el archivo de servicios. Un proveedor concreto podría ofrecer una plantilla propia, pero eso debe verificarse para ese proveedor, región y fecha; no se puede atribuir esa función a cualquier VPS.
