Inpulse makes music part of the platforming rules: collect notes, then fire them to propel Flute through the air. Steam’s demo listing describes 66 campaign levels, editor-made sample levels and a preview of a later world—but its captured availability messages conflict, so check the live listing before expecting to download it.
How music becomes a movement system
Inpulse is a precision platformer from Shelljump, with Flute—a shapeshifting creature—as its playable character. Instead of treating music as background, the game turns collected notes into movement ammunition. Each note type has its own color, tone and movement effect; firing notes sends Flute through the air.

The order in which notes are fired matters. Effects can stack, and note sequences create different melodies and movement patterns. That makes note choice part of route planning: the same stretch of air may be approached with a different sequence of abilities.

The full-game listing also describes one evolving piece of music per world, with more of each track unlocking as levels progress. These are descriptions from the store pages, not independently verified gameplay observations. The listing’s tagline sums up the premise: “Ammo is Movement. Do-Re-Mi is your moveset.”

What Steam says the demo includes
The demo listing describes a substantial sample, but these counts and features are store-page claims rather than a verified playthrough.
- Campaign: 66 levels across the first two worlds.
- Note types: The first three, introducing a subset of the full-game listing’s seven note types.
- Additional preview: A look at the third world.
- Editor content: More than 15 sample levels made with the in-game editor. The listing also mentions three challenging environments, nine editable tile sets and backgrounds for custom levels.
- Level editor: Access after reaching world 2.
Practice tools and level creation
Tools for learning levels
Steam advertises full replays and a DDR-style input screen for each level, along with emulator-style save states and half- or quarter-speed play. Players can also record replays that work with save states. Together, these features are designed to make it easier to inspect a sequence, practise it slowly and revisit a particular state; they do not mean the precision platforming will be easy for everyone.

An editor that works with the game’s music
The integrated editor is described as allowing players to pause, modify a level, use Photoshop-style layers, export a level image, draw on it and hotload it back into the game. Steam also says a level file can include a song and musical scale, allowing sound effects to adjust to that composition. That links level creation to the same audio-feedback idea used in the platforming.
Demo versus the full game listing
The demo and base-game pages are separate Steam listings, and their details should not be conflated.

The full-game listing’s date is not a launch date for the demo, and the demo’s listed date should not be read as the full game’s release date.
Is the Inpulse demo available on Steam now?
The Steam demo page captured on October 13, 2026, gives conflicting signals: it lists October 12 as the release date but also says the demo is not yet available and plans to unlock in approximately two days. Because those statements do not agree, use the live Steam page to confirm current download status rather than assuming the date means it is already playable.
