Neither InMotion Hosting nor HostPapa is a clear winner for every site. InMotion’s published shared plans spell out site counts and NVMe storage, while HostPapa emphasizes a broader website-launch bundle and publishes renewal totals by service and billing term. Choose by matching the exact plan, contract length, renewal charge, included features, and refund terms to your needs—not by comparing a three-year introductory rate with a different term’s price.
How the plans compare
The providers’ plan tiers do not line up one-to-one, so treat the figures below as published plan details rather than equivalent packages. InMotion’s official shared-hosting page lists three tiers. HostPapa’s plan page describes four tiers, but the available information does not establish matching capacities for every tier on a like-for-like basis.

Do not treat the advertised starting price as a durable monthly cost. HostPapa’s plan page shows an introductory $2.95-per-month rate tied to a discounted three-year term and says service renews at the regular rate. InMotion’s displayed pricing can also change with plan and term; confirm the current billing period and renewal total directly before purchasing.
HostPapa’s US-dollar renewal table, last modified March 24, 2026, lists the following totals. They refer to different service labels and terms, so they are not monthly-equivalent prices or proof that every customer’s plan maps to the same row.
| HostPapa service label | Listed renewal total | Billing term |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Hosting Plan | $19.82 | 1 month |
| Starter Hosting Plan | $111.83 | 1 year |
| Business Hosting Plan | $391.77 | 1 year |
| Business Premium Hosting Plan | $899.64 | 3 years |
Check the exact service name, currency, geography, term, taxes, and optional add-ons on your own checkout page. The published US table is HostPapa’s service-renewal price list; it is not a personalized quote. A third-party September 15, 2026 roundup lists InMotion shared hosting at $18.99–$25.99 per month, but that snapshot should be reconciled with InMotion’s current plan and checkout details: TechRadar’s 2026 hosting roundup.

Which host offers the better fit for your site?
Choose InMotion if capacity and developer-facing options matter
InMotion’s published Launch, Power, and Pro limits make it easier to identify a tier by site count and storage. Its shared-hosting page also lists cPanel, one-click installs, a website builder, WP-CLI, PHP 8, data-center choice, SSH, free SSL, malware protection, and backup-manager availability. Some features—including support channels, caching, email storage, and eCommerce readiness—vary by plan, so verify the tier details rather than assuming they are universal.
For a small business or developer managing several sites, compare the required site count and storage with the plan limits first. Then check the support and backup features included at that tier. These details are listed on InMotion’s shared-hosting page.
Choose HostPapa if the bundle suits how you plan to launch
HostPapa presents hosting alongside WordPress hosting, domains, business email, a drag-and-drop site builder, security, and 24/7 support. Its plan page also describes tier-dependent CDN, staging, SSL, migrations, and automated backups. Backup size, inclusion period, and eligibility can vary by tier and billing term; check the selected plan’s conditions rather than assuming the largest allowance applies to every customer.
HostPapa’s homepage makes the bundled offering and support claims: HostPapa. Those are provider descriptions, not independent measurements of support quality or customer outcomes.

Refunds and domain fees are separate considerations
InMotion advertises a 90-day money-back guarantee. Its terms say a domain credit applies only to eligible domains and select extensions on 12-, 24-, or 36-month terms, and covers the first year. If you cancel during the guarantee period, the regular domain price is deducted from a hosting refund; domain registration fees are non-refundable. See the InMotion plan and guarantee terms.
HostPapa advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee for service and says domain fees are non-refundable. Review the terms for your purchase before ordering: HostPapa’s homepage.

Is one host faster?
The available independent test does not establish a speed winner. TechRadar tested its cheapest HostPapa shared plan with a pre-built WooCommerce site using Siege. The report recorded 100.00% availability at five concurrent users and at nine, then 95.64% at fifteen; the reviewer also noted failed transactions and longer completion times at fifteen. This is one test setup, not a guarantee of typical results, and there is no comparable InMotion test in the evidence here. Read the TechRadar HostPapa review for its test context.
Quick Recap
A practical checklist before you buy
- Match the plan to the number of sites you will host and the storage each needs.
- Compare the total due for the same contract length, including the renewal total—not just the introductory monthly figure.
- Confirm the currency and regional checkout page, plus taxes, domain charges, and optional add-ons.
- Check backup size, automation, retention or restore conditions, and how long backups are included.
- Verify whether SSL, email, migration, staging, security, and builder features are included in the specific tier.
- Read the applicable service refund terms and distinguish them from non-refundable domain fees.
- If performance is decisive, seek comparable tests of both providers using similar plans, sites, locations, and load conditions; the cited results do not provide that comparison.
