Infor announced an expanded Industry AI architecture and the next evolution of its Velocity Suite on October 6, 2026, positioning industry-specific context, connected systems, and governance as answers to perceived gaps in off-the-shelf AI. In a separate piece of evidence, a YouGov survey conducted for Infor found that 68% of respondents said generic AI did not adequately address their industry’s needs. That is a measure of respondents’ views—not an independent test showing that generic AI fails or that Infor’s products deliver particular results.

What Infor announced

Infor describes its expanded Industry AI architecture through four pillars. The company says they combine its enterprise software, industry knowledge, integrations, user experience, and governance capabilities. The descriptions below are Infor’s product claims, not independent evaluations. Infor’s October 6, 2026 announcement

Precise Outcomes

Infor says its Industry AI agents are grounded in its CloudSuites, Industry Process Catalogs, and industry-specific domain language models. It also says the GenAI Knowledge Hub is generally available for customers to build custom agents. The announcement does not specify availability by geography or customer tier.

Open & Connected

Infor says its architecture can connect to non-Infor applications as well as existing orchestration and analytics tools. Its Infor IQ semantic layer is described as offering a catalog of more than 350 use cases. The announcement does not detail the supported integrations or their implementation requirements.

Easy to Use

Infor describes Adaptive UX as assembling role-aware information in a single view. Customers can use Infor’s assistant or assistants they already use, according to the company.

Governed

Infor says its orchestration and platform layers support human-approval workflows, permissions, audit trails, explainable AI logic, and logging. The release describes these capabilities but does not provide independent security or governance validation.

What Velocity Suite includes

Infor presents Velocity Suite as one package tied to a customer’s Industry Process Catalog. The company says the package includes Industry AI agents, Agentic Orchestrator, process mining, automation, prebuilt industry use cases, generative AI, and implementation expertise. Infor describes access as unlimited within “fair business use,” but does not define that term or publish a price in the announcement.

What the survey says—and what it does not

The second wave of the Infor Enterprise AI Adoption Impact Index surveyed 2,111 business decision-makers in August 2026 across seven markets. YouGov conducted the research on Infor’s behalf. Infor reports the following respondent counts: UK (254), US (550), Singapore (260), Japan (266), France (260), Australia (263), and Germany (258). The announcement says an earlier wave in April 2026 surveyed 1,024 decision-makers across four markets.

Infor does not detail sampling, weighting, respondent recruitment, question wording beyond a general description, or margins of error in the announcement. The percentages should therefore be read as findings reported by Infor about surveyed decision-makers, not as independently established estimates for all businesses. The survey asked whether generic AI adequately addresses industry-specific regulatory, workflow, and data requirements; it did not objectively test model quality.

Finding reported by Infor Share
Respondents who said off-the-shelf AI does not adequately address their industry’s needs 68%
Manufacturing respondents who said off-the-shelf AI does not fit their needs 73%
Distribution respondents who said off-the-shelf AI does not fit their needs 76%
Retail respondents who said off-the-shelf AI does not fit their needs 69%
Respondents expecting AI investment to increase over the next 12 months 59%
Respondents comfortable with autonomous agents fully executing critical business processes without human input at every step 54%
Respondents preferring humans to make high-stakes decisions without any AI input 11%
Respondents naming data security, sovereignty, or compliance as their single greatest barrier to advancing AI strategy 33%
Respondents assigning primary AI responsibility to the CEO or executive leadership 23%
Respondents assigning primary AI responsibility to the CIO or CTO 22%
Respondents assigning primary AI responsibility to an AI committee or governance group 15%
Respondents assigning primary AI responsibility to department heads 10%
Respondents saying no one person has primary AI responsibility or that responsibility is unclear 15%
Respondents reporting a Chief AI Officer role 10%

Infor says six of the seven markets had a clear majority who felt off-the-shelf AI did not adequately address industry needs, but the announcement does not identify the exception. These results describe reported attitudes and organizational arrangements; they do not show that companies with industry-specific AI achieve better outcomes.

How to assess the product claims

For organizations evaluating enterprise AI, Infor’s announcement raises practical questions that apply beyond this product. Its material describes the company’s position on these dimensions, but does not provide a side-by-side competitor comparison.

  • Industry and workflow context: Ask which processes, domain models, and industry requirements the system actually covers, and how those are maintained.
  • Connections to existing systems: Confirm which applications and orchestration or analytics tools can connect, and what configuration or services are required.
  • User experience: Establish how role-aware views work in practice and whether existing assistants are supported in the intended environment.
  • Control and accountability: Verify how approvals, permissions, audit trails, explanations, and logs behave for the workflows your organization considers high-risk.
  • Outcome evidence: Request baselines, measurement periods, sample sizes, and customer-specific validation before relying on headline performance figures.

How to interpret Infor’s outcome figures

Infor reports customer outcomes of shipments processed up to 60% faster, time savings up to 90% across procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, and sales workflows, and up to a 90% reduction in auditing costs tied to access management. These are company-reported maximum outcomes. The announcement supplies no study design, sample sizes, baselines, or independent verification for these figures, so they should not be treated as expected results for a prospective customer.

What company and customer comments add

Infor CEO Kevin Samuelson said, “Everyone has the same AI models now. What matters is what those models know about your business.” Info-Tech Research Group Principal Research Director Shashi Bellamkonda said, “The next phase of enterprise AI will be defined not by access to models, but by how effectively organizations apply AI within the context of their industry and business processes.” These comments express a strategic view of enterprise AI; they are not evidence of product performance.

Team Air Distributing CTO Alicia Thompson said, “AI only matters when it creates real value.” The release also attributes comments to her about Infor agents and Forward Deployed Engineers. Those statements are customer testimony in a vendor announcement, rather than an independent assessment of measured results.
