For a prerecorded gameplay replay or playlist that needs to loop on YouTube, a managed cloud service is usually the simpler operating model; a VPS is better when you need control over OBS, FFmpeg, or the operating system. For live gameplay encoding, either approach needs to be tested with your actual scene and connection. An India-region VPS listing alone cannot establish its route to YouTube ingest or whether its hardware can sustain your chosen encode.
First, distinguish a replay from live gameplay
A prerecorded replay is an existing gameplay recording played repeatedly as a YouTube live stream. The video is already encoded, so the central requirement is continuous playback and delivery. A managed cloud loop can handle that without an encoder process running on a machine you administer.

Live gameplay is different: a computer or server must capture or receive the changing video and encode it continuously. A VPS can give you control over that workflow, but you must configure and monitor the software and recover it when something fails. A prerecorded loop and a live encoder workload should not be treated as interchangeable when choosing a plan.

| Option | Best fit | What you manage | What the available evidence establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo managed cloud loop | Uploaded gameplay recordings or playlists that should run continuously on YouTube | Upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and start the stream | StreamNeo describes a cloud service for looping uploaded videos to YouTube; it is not a camera-based live encoder. See StreamNeo. |
| Self-managed VPS or cloud VM | Custom OBS/FFmpeg workflows, relays, or live gameplay encoding where operating-system and process control matter | Installation, configuration, resource monitoring, stream recovery, and infrastructure billing | AWS lists Lightsail in Mumbai, and Google Cloud lists VM regions in Mumbai and Delhi. Region availability does not establish route quality to YouTube or encoding capacity for your workload. |
For a prerecorded loop, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs from the cloud, accepts any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. A VPS remains reasonable when the point is to operate your own encoder or relay rather than simply loop an existing video.

What a VPS comparison can—and cannot—tell you in India
AWS Lightsail in Mumbai
AWS’s pricing page, checked in 2026, lists a $5/month Linux/Unix IPv4 entry bundle with 0.5 GB RAM, 2 vCPUs, 20 GB SSD, and 1 TB of displayed transfer. Mumbai-region bundles include half the displayed transfer allowance. These are plan specifications, not evidence that the smallest bundle can encode your gameplay continuously.
AWS documentation checked in 2026 lists $0.13/GB for excess outbound transfer in Mumbai. Both inbound and outbound transfer count against the included allowance, while excess outbound transfer can be charged. Check current plan terms and how your traffic is counted before estimating a 24/7 stream’s bill.
Google Cloud VM regions
Google Cloud’s general-purpose VM pricing documentation lists Mumbai (asia-south1) and Delhi (asia-south2) for relevant VM families. That establishes regional availability, not a comparable price, a faster route to YouTube, or enough capacity for a particular encoder. The cited material does not provide a like-for-like price comparison with the Lightsail bundle.
Why a region label is not a performance result
Your route to YouTube ingest depends on more than the data-center city. YouTube’s own guidance is to test with audio and movement similar to the intended stream and monitor stream health during the event. There is no established benchmark here showing which Indian provider, city, or ISP has the best route, nor which VM can encode a particular game scene continuously.

Choose YouTube’s ingest settings before sizing the server
Set the target resolution and frame rate first, then use YouTube’s codec-specific recommendations. YouTube automatically detects encoder settings when Live Control Room uses its default behavior, and it transcodes the incoming stream for viewers. YouTube recommends RTMPS for ingest.
| Output | AV1 or H.265 recommended ingest bitrate | H.264 recommended ingest bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 60 fps | 12 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
| 1440p at 60 fps | 24 Mbps | 34 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s published recommendations, not guarantees that a particular VPS can encode or deliver the stream reliably. Match the codec and output you actually intend to use; do not treat one bitrate as universal across codecs.
Estimate transfer before committing to a 24/7 VPS
A continuous stream sends a large, predictable volume of data. As a rough planning method, convert the outgoing video bitrate to bytes per second by dividing bits per second by eight, then multiply by the hours streamed and account for audio and protocol overhead. The provider may count traffic differently, so use its current billing rules for the final estimate.
For Lightsail specifically, compare that estimate with the Mumbai allowance—not just the allowance shown on the general bundle table—and account for the documented excess outbound rate. The $5/month headline bundle price is not a complete estimate of a continuous stream when counted transfer exceeds the regional allowance. Actual billing depends on the traffic counted and current plan terms.

Set up and validate a self-managed encoder workflow
- Decide whether the server must encode. For an existing recording, playback and delivery are the job; for live gameplay, the server or another machine must capture or receive the changing feed and encode it. Avoid paying for or configuring encoding capacity that the workflow does not use.
- Select a provider and plan from the workload outward. Check the region, CPU and memory specifications, storage, included transfer, and overage terms. For a continuous stream, calculate transfer before choosing a plan. Do not infer encode capacity from a plan’s listed vCPU count.
- Configure the encoder for the chosen output. Set resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate to match YouTube’s recommendations for that codec and output. Use RTMPS for ingest. Keep the YouTube stream key private; enter it only in the intended streaming software or service.
- Test a representative stream before relying on it. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real stream. Check the video and audio at the intended settings and review stream health in Live Control Room before treating the setup as ready.
- Monitor the actual run. Review YouTube’s stream-health messages during the event and check the VPS process and resource use. A short successful test cannot establish that an untested scene or long-running workload will remain reliable.
Copyright and channel-policy checks for replay streams
Using a prerecorded file does not itself establish that you have rights to every part of the stream. Check the gameplay recording, music, overlays, and any other included material against the rights and permissions that apply to your channel and intended use. YouTube’s platform rules and channel monetization eligibility are separate questions; a stream being technically live does not establish that it qualifies for monetization. The cited technical documentation does not settle the status of a particular game, recording, or channel, so review YouTube’s current policies for your case.
Or let it run in the cloud
For an uploaded gameplay recording or playlist, StreamNeo avoids keeping a home computer or encoder process running. Upload the video, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the upload from the cloud; the stream continues with your computer off, supports the file as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. The service is for uploaded videos streamed to YouTube, not camera-based live gameplay encoding. See StreamNeo or start the free day.

The stream is unstable despite choosing an India region
A region selection does not prove the route to YouTube ingest is good. Run a representative test from the selected server, use YouTube’s stream-health feedback, and compare another region or provider if the route remains poor.
The server appears underpowered
A plan’s published CPU and memory figures do not prove it can encode your specific scene. Test the exact resolution, frame rate, codec, and gameplay workload. If the task is only to loop a prerecorded file, consider a managed playback service rather than sizing a VM for live encoding.

The transfer allowance is being consumed faster than expected
Recalculate for continuous operation, include the provider’s traffic-counting rules, and check the allowance for the selected region. With Lightsail in Mumbai, the regional allowance is half the displayed bundle allowance, and AWS documents a separate excess outbound charge.
YouTube reports stream-health issues
Check that the configured output matches the chosen codec’s recommended bitrate and that the encoder is sending the intended resolution and frame rate. Test with representative audio and movement, then use the messages in Live Control Room to narrow down the issue.
The stream stops after a disconnect or process failure
On a self-managed VPS, recovery depends on how you configured and monitor the encoder process; the available provider details do not establish automatic recovery for a user-managed workflow. Verify recovery behavior in a test before relying on it for a long run.
