For a more reliable recording, plan shorter sessions and keep a local recording. Before going live, confirm your channel is eligible, clear the rights to every song and visual, and set the audience accurately if the stream is made for children.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube states that streamers must be at least 16 years old.
- A computer that can run OBS and an internet connection capable of sending your chosen video and audio output. No specific computer model, upload speed, or OBS setting is established here; avoid treating an unverified specification as a requirement.
- Malayalam rhyme audio, recordings, artwork, and animation that you have the rights to use in a live stream and, if you keep one, its archived video.
- A plan for the broadcast length, audience setting, monitoring, and local recording.
YouTube supports encoder-based live streams. Its guidance says expensive equipment is not required, so first try hardware you already have rather than buying a microphone or camera for a program made from prepared animation and audio.

Prepare the songs, recordings, and visuals
Check rights for each layer of the program: the composition or lyrics, the particular arrangement, the sound recording, and the artwork or animation. A traditional melody does not by itself establish that a modern arrangement, recording, or video is free to use. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may show a placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Even a licensed recording can be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID. If you have permission, ask the rights holder about allowlisting and confirm that your permission covers live use, the countries where the stream will be available, and any archived video. Material described as “free” can still trigger Content ID, so check its actual terms rather than relying on that label.

YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility on the creator to have the necessary rights worldwide, including music licensing rights. You must also comply with applicable local requirements. This is not a determination of the rights status of any particular Malayalam rhyme or a guide to Indian licensing procedures.
Set the audience correctly for a children’s stream
If the stream is directed to children, designate it as Made for Kids in YouTube’s audience controls. YouTube may override an inaccurate audience choice. Do not mark child-directed content as not made for kids to retain features.
Made for Kids limits features including live chat, comments, notifications, personalized advertising, Super Chat, and Super Stickers. Other features, including saving the content to playlists and channel memberships or merchandise on the content, are also restricted. Contextual ads may still appear under YouTube’s live restrictions. Plan the stream and your expectations around those limits.
Configure and start the OBS broadcast
- Check eligibility in YouTube Studio. Confirm that the channel is verified and has no live-stream restriction within the previous 90 days. YouTube’s stated minimum streaming age is 16.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, use the Live Control Room and choose the encoder route. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder event at least two hours in advance, leaving time to check the feed before it begins.
- Connect OBS to the event. Use the stream key generated for the YouTube broadcast to connect OBS. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it could send a stream to your channel. OBS labels and controls can vary by version, so use the current OBS interface rather than relying on an outdated menu walkthrough.
- Prepare the program in OBS. Add the prepared rhyme audio and visuals as your program sources, check that the picture and sound are both present, and make sure the intended content plays through the full session. If using a playlist or repeating program, verify the transition and repeat behavior before the public broadcast.
- Choose output settings deliberately. The official YouTube setup guidance considered here does not establish current OBS menu labels, bitrate values, keyframe interval, or reconnect settings. Do not copy a random preset as a universal answer: output choices depend on the source video, computer, and connection. Check current YouTube and OBS recommendations for the format you intend to send, then verify the result in YouTube’s preview.
- Start with a preview and monitor it. Confirm that the Live Control Room preview shows the expected video and audio before the event is public. During the broadcast, keep checking the feed and the local recording rather than assuming that a started encoder is still delivering correctly.
- Record locally and check the file. Keep a local recording if the program or archive matters. Confirm that the file is growing during the session and play it back afterward to check its integrity.
Plan for long sessions and YouTube archives
YouTube may automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but its archive guidance says that if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. A 24-hour broadcast should therefore not be treated as a guaranteed YouTube recording. If you need a dependable copy, retain a local recording and verify it.
| Approach | Archive consideration | Operational trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| One uninterrupted broadcast | A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. | Less restart and scheduling work, but you still need to monitor delivery and preserve a local copy if the recording matters. |
| Planned shorter sessions with local recording | Sessions kept below 12 hours align better with YouTube’s stated archive guidance; keep the local recording as a separate backup. | Requires more scheduling, monitoring, and restarts. YouTube does not guarantee gap-free transitions between sessions. |
Choose based on whether uninterrupted playback or a dependable archive matters more. YouTube’s guidance does not guarantee continuous 24-hour delivery, so describe the schedule as a goal rather than promising viewers an uninterrupted stream. After each session, use YouTube Studio’s ordinary visibility controls to decide whether its archive should be public, unlisted, or private.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The Live Control Room will not let you start. Recheck channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction applies within the preceding 90 days; also confirm the streamer meets YouTube’s minimum age.
- The preview is missing video or audio. Check the OBS program sources and audio routing, then confirm the preview again before making the broadcast public.
- The stream is replaced, interrupted, or terminated. A third-party match may have triggered YouTube’s live scanning. Remove the matched material; if you hold a license, contact the rights holder about allowlisting your channel in Content ID.
- The YouTube archive is missing or incomplete. A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Check the local recording file you monitored during the session.
- The local backup cannot be used. Confirm that the recording file grew while live and test playback. YouTube recommends checking both file growth and archive integrity.
- Viewers cannot use chat or other expected features. Check the Made for Kids designation and its feature restrictions. Keep the audience setting accurate rather than changing it to regain features.
