Neither service controls every site that holds your information, and a published study found that removal results varied substantially.
How Incogni and Kanary approach personal-data removal
Incogni: recurring broker opt-outs
Incogni’s Standard plan focuses on recurring, automated removal requests to more than 420 data broker sites, according to its pricing page. The company says the service can include multiple email addresses, home addresses, and phone numbers. Its annual plans include ongoing monitoring and resubmitted requests.

Unlimited adds custom removal requests for sites outside Standard coverage. Incogni describes those requests as covering an additional 3,000-plus sites. Family plans are available for up to five members. These are requests for removal, not a guarantee that every site will delete a listing.
Kanary: monitoring and mitigation based on risk
Kanary describes a threat-model-based service: source coverage, scan frequency, remediation, and support vary by tier. Its Core plan emphasizes high-traffic sources; Advanced expands coverage to social media and AI or large language model (LLM) services. Kanary also describes measures beyond deletion, including updating exposed information with less sensitive details, address-confidentiality enrollment, and escalation.

That broader approach matters when a listing cannot simply be removed. Kanary says public records such as property or professional records may not be removable, and that third-party sites control deletion. Its 2026 Product Brief states: “But Kanary cannot directly delete the data on someone else’s website.” That is a description of the service’s limits, not independent evidence of a particular result.
Which service is available where you live?
Location affects eligibility as well as which legal opt-out rights or removal processes apply. According to Kanary’s July 2026 product brief, Core is available only to US residents. Advanced is available in some countries outside the US, but not all countries are supported; check current eligibility before choosing a plan.

Incogni says it submits requests under applicable local privacy and consumer-protection laws, including GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA, and that the scope of removal differs by location. Its Help Center has separate guidance on availability by country and plans and prices. The legal rights and request scope available to one subscriber should not be assumed to apply identically to another.

How effective are removal services?
A 2025 peer-reviewed study by He et al., published in Proceedings on Privacy Enhancing Technologies, reported an average removal success rate of 48.2% across four tested services. In that study, Incogni’s reported rate was 76.6% and Kanary’s was 23.4%. These are results from that study, not current guarantees or predictions for an individual subscriber.

The authors caution that their participants were mainly US university students, so the findings may not represent typical customers. They also report variation between users and brokers. The figures help illustrate why provider site counts are not directly comparable measures of successful removal: the services describe different coverage and workflows, and outcomes depend on the specific listing and source. Read the study, “Measuring the Accuracy and Effectiveness of PII Removal Services”, with those limits in mind.
Which service fits your situation?
Choose Incogni if you want routine broker requests
- You want a hands-off cycle of recurring opt-out requests to data brokers.
- Standard broker coverage is likely to address your main concern, or you want the option to request custom removals through an Unlimited plan.
- You are comparing family coverage or want to see first-year and renewal prices clearly stated before checkout.
Consider Kanary if your exposure needs broader mitigation
- Your concern includes sources such as social media or AI/LLM services, and Advanced coverage is available where you live.
- You want risk-based monitoring or escalation options rather than only recurring broker opt-outs.
- You need to consider mitigation for records that may remain public, not just deletion requests.
These are fit judgments based on the providers’ described features, not promises that either service will remove a specific listing. If your main concern is a particular page, check whether that source and type of information are covered by the exact plan available in your country before subscribing.
Quick Recap

What to check before subscribing
- Confirm eligibility. Check the provider’s current country and plan availability, especially for Kanary Advanced.
- Identify the exposure you need addressed. Distinguish broker listings from social media, AI/LLM services, and public records; coverage and possible remedies differ.
- Match the plan to the work. For Incogni, custom requests are part of Unlimited plans. For Kanary, verify the tier’s scanning, removal, and escalation features and whether your configuration adds costs.
- Compare ongoing cost. Check the checkout total, taxes, first-year promotion, and renewal amount rather than relying on a displayed monthly equivalent.
- Allow time for requests to resolve. Incogni says some brokers respond within hours while others take weeks, and requests can take more than 30 days. Kanary’s brief gives a range of 24 hours to 90 days or longer. These timelines vary by site, and neither service controls the third-party response.
