To delete a picture associated with Samsung Cloud, first check where it is stored: Samsung Gallery, OneDrive from an earlier Gallery sync, or a Google-linked setup described for Japan. These use different delete and recovery paths. Samsung’s US support says Gallery Sync with OneDrive ended on September 30, 2026, but pictures already synced remain in OneDrive.
First identify where the picture is stored
“Samsung Cloud” may not be the place to delete a photo. Check whether you can see it in the Samsung Gallery app, in OneDrive, or in a Google-linked setup. Also check which account is signed in. The right app matters because Gallery’s Recycle bin and OneDrive’s Recycle bin are separate, with different recovery periods.

Delete a photo that was synced to OneDrive
Samsung US says Gallery Sync with OneDrive ended on September 30, 2026. Photos and videos synced before the service ended remain in the user’s OneDrive account, where they can still be downloaded or deleted. This end date applies to the US guidance; it does not mean existing synced files were automatically removed.
- Open OneDrive and sign in to the account containing the picture.
- Select the photo or photos you want to remove.
- Tap Delete.
Recover a deleted OneDrive photo
In OneDrive, open Recycle bin, select the photo, and choose Restore. Samsung US states that deleted OneDrive files remain recoverable there for 93 days. This is the period stated in Samsung’s US support guidance, not a universal retention promise for every account or region.

What to know about the Google-linked setup
Samsung Japan’s support page, updated October 1, 2026, describes a Google-storage-based Gallery sync option following the end of OneDrive sync. According to that Japan-specific guidance, deleting a synced photo in Gallery or Google Photos removes it from connected devices and the other service; deleted items remain in Gallery and Google Photos trash for 30 days.

Before you permanently delete a picture
- Confirm which app and account contain the photo; a Gallery Recycle bin is not the same as OneDrive’s Recycle bin.
- Check whether the picture is synced to another service or device. Samsung’s Japan guidance describes deletion propagating across connected services, so do not assume a cloud-linked copy will remain separate.
- If you want to keep the picture, download it or make another copy before emptying a bin or choosing permanent deletion.
- If the expected menu is missing, check your local Samsung support guidance; Samsung notes that availability and settings may vary by carrier and software version.
