I Won’t Buy Another Galaxy FE Until Samsung Makes These Changes

The Galaxy S25 FE is lighter and thinner than the S24 FE, with modest camera-resolution and battery-capacity changes. Here’s what those updates establish—and what still needs real-world proof.

I won’t buy another Galaxy FE just because the next model has a newer name. I want proof of three things: meaningfully better real-world battery life, camera improvements that show up in photos and video, and a price that makes the compromises worthwhile. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 FE makes measurable changes to weight, camera resolution and battery capacity compared with the S24 FE—but its published specifications do not prove that it meets those thresholds.

If you already own an S24 FE, the S25 FE’s listed refinements alone are not a compelling reason to upgrade. If you’re buying a phone now, compare the two at their actual prices and weigh the thinner, lighter design and longer stated support against the lack of independent evidence here on endurance and image quality.

What would make me buy another Galaxy FE?

My bar is not a longer spec sheet. It is a phone that lasts longer away from a charger, takes noticeably better pictures in the situations people actually use, and offers enough for the money to justify choosing it. Those are buying thresholds, not claims that Samsung has failed every FE owner: the evidence available here does not establish my past experience or provide independent side-by-side testing.

  • Battery: measured endurance should improve, not just the capacity figure.
  • Cameras: improvements should be visible in output, not only in megapixels.
  • Value: the price should reflect what has changed, especially when the previous generation is still available.

What changed from the Galaxy S24 FE to the S25 FE?

Samsung’s US product comparison lists several concrete differences. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

Specification Galaxy S24 FE Galaxy S25 FE What it establishes
Weight 212.9 g 190 g The S25 FE is listed as 22.9 g lighter.
Thickness 8.0 mm 7.4 mm The S25 FE is listed as 0.6 mm thinner.
Wide rear camera 50 MP 50 MP No resolution change in Samsung’s comparison.
Ultrawide rear camera 10 MP 12 MP Higher listed resolution; image quality is not established by that alone.
Telephoto rear camera 8 MP 8 MP No resolution change in Samsung’s comparison.
Front camera 10 MP 12 MP Higher listed resolution; real-world results are not established.
Battery capacity 4700 mAh 4900 mAh A 200 mAh increase, not proof of longer battery life.
Processor Exynos 2400e Exynos 2400 Different listed chip names; no performance comparison is established.

Samsung lists both phones with a 6.7-inch FHD+ display and refresh rates up to 120 Hz for the S25 FE. The S25 FE’s other listed rear-camera specifications are a 50 MP wide camera and an 8 MP telephoto camera. See Samsung’s S25 FE product page and comparison for its specifications and claims.

Is the S25 FE’s battery change enough?

Not on the evidence of capacity alone. The S25 FE’s listed battery is 4900 mAh, up from 4700 mAh on the S24 FE. Samsung also advertises up to 28 hours of video playback for the S25 FE and describes all-day use, but those are manufacturer claims—not a measured, side-by-side result that shows how either phone performs in ordinary use.

Samsung says the S25 FE supports wired charging up to 45 W and wireless charging up to 15 W. Its claim that a full charge takes under an hour depends on using a compatible charger. The comparison information does not establish an independently tested charging improvement over the S24 FE. Anyone whose purchase depends on longer runtime or faster charging should look for testing under comparable conditions rather than treating these figures as a verdict.

Are the S25 FE cameras better than the S24 FE?

The hardware changes are narrow: Samsung lists a 12 MP ultrawide camera instead of 10 MP and a 12 MP front camera instead of 10 MP. It lists the same 50 MP wide and 8 MP telephoto resolutions for both generations. Samsung says the upgraded front camera delivers clearer selfies and sharper video calls; that is Samsung’s claim, not independent image testing.

Resolution alone cannot establish whether photos improve in daylight, low light, zoom or video. The S25 FE’s published specifications therefore do not answer the key buying question for me: whether its pictures and video are noticeably better in practice.

Does the lighter design change the decision?

This is the clearest tangible refinement in Samsung’s comparison. The S25 FE is listed at 190 g and 7.4 mm thick, compared with 212.9 g and 8.0 mm for the S24 FE. That makes the newer model lighter and thinner on paper. Whether the difference feels significant in your hand is personal, but the specification change is concrete—not an inference from a marketing phrase.

  • The Galaxy S25 FE features a large, immersive Dynamic AMOLED display with smooth refresh rate and enhanced brightness, delivering vivid colors and sharp clarity whether you're streaming, browsing, or using it outdoors.

How much does the S25 FE cost, and is it better value?

Samsung’s US MSRP sheet effective March 2026 lists the same unlocked prices for the two generations: $649.99 for 128 GB and $709.99 for 256 GB. Samsung says prices may change without notice, so these are dated MSRP references, not current street prices or a guarantee of availability. A retailer discount, trade-in offer or local price can change the buying decision; compare the actual price for the same storage before paying extra for either model.

At equal listed MSRP, the S25 FE offers a thinner, lighter body, higher listed ultrawide and front-camera resolutions, and a 200 mAh larger battery. Those facts do not establish better battery life, stronger camera output, or better value for your use. The Samsung US March 2026 MSRP sheet is the source for those reference prices.

How long will Samsung support the S25 FE?

Samsung advertises up to seven generations of OS upgrades and up to seven years of security updates for the S25 FE. The wording is “up to,” and Samsung says update timing and availability vary by model and market. Treat this as Samsung’s support promise, not a guarantee that every region receives every update at the same time.

For regional context, Samsung India’s S24 FE listing gives a security-update period through October 31, 2031, and a launch date of September 27, 2024. Those dates apply to that regional listing; they should not be used to infer a different market’s exact support schedule. See Samsung India’s S24 FE page.

Should you buy, wait or skip?

Buy the S25 FE if

  • You want a thinner, lighter FE and the listed difference matters to you.
  • You are choosing between generations at similar actual prices and prefer the newer model’s listed camera-resolution and battery-capacity changes.
  • Samsung’s stated long support period is important, with the understanding that rollout varies by model and market.

Wait for independent testing if

  • Your decision depends on longer real-world battery life, faster charging, better low-light photography, stronger zoom or improved video.
  • You want to know whether the processor change improves performance or sustained workloads; the chipset names alone do not answer that.

Consider the S24 FE if

  • You find it meaningfully cheaper than the S25 FE and do not place a high value on the newer phone’s listed size, weight or resolution changes.
  • You are comparing exact storage configurations and the older model’s lower price outweighs the newer model’s refinements for you.

My threshold remains unmet on the evidence established here: Samsung has made specific specification changes, but the available information does not demonstrate the real-world battery and camera gains I require or establish that the price is compelling at today’s street prices.
