“Codex reset” can mean three different things: your personal usage limit has reset, a public or global reset has been announced, or your account has a banked reset credit. I made Codex Reset Live to collect public reset signals and help people check whether Codex reset, but it cannot read your account’s private usage timing.
What Codex Reset Live does
In his first-person article, maker Jiangshan describes Codex Reset Live as a free website that requires no signup. It collects recent public reset signals, links to their original sources, records reset times and history, and explains the different kinds of reset. Jiangshan also says it can send new signals to Telegram. The site is not affiliated with OpenAI.
This is the maker’s description, not an independent verification of the live site or the accuracy of its signals.
What “reset” means
The term is often used for different events. Keeping these categories separate helps you interpret what the site reports—and what it cannot tell you.

Personal reset time
Your personal reset time is tied to your account. To check the 5-hour or weekly reset time described by Jiangshan, open Settings → Usage in Codex. The website cannot read your personal usage limit. Its local timer is configured manually by you and stays in your browser.
Public or global reset
A public or global reset refers to a public announcement or a confirmed reset affecting eligible users. Jiangshan says the site records the event’s time and source. A public signal is not the same thing as a reading of your individual account.

Banked reset
A banked reset is a reset credit saved in an eligible account for use before it expires. It does not mean that everyone received a public or global reset.
How to check your own reset timing
- Open Codex and go to Settings → Usage.
- Check the personal 5-hour or weekly reset time shown for your account.
- Use the website’s local timer only if you want to track a time yourself; set it manually in your browser.
Jiangshan puts the distinction plainly: “Other people screenshot cannot tell your exact time.”

How to read public reset signals
Jiangshan says the site avoids marking an unconfirmed public reset “YES.” Instead, it may show NOT YET, PENDING REVIEW, or UNKNOWN. Those labels are the maker’s stated approach; they are not an independently verified guarantee about how the live site behaves.
Past reset dates are records, not a forecast. A history of previous events does not establish when the next one will happen.
