Model Truth Desk is a prototype designed to answer questions about changing AI-model facts from dated, sourced claims—not from a language model’s memory alone. Its author, Wraith, describes a small Sanity-backed knowledge base that attaches an official-source URL, an exact quote, and an observation date to each claim, and flags stale information. The project’s appeal is its insistence on showing evidence; its main limitation is equally clear: it can answer only from the narrow set of claims entered into it.
What Model Truth Desk is meant to solve
Specifications and prices for AI models can change, so a confident answer from model memory may be outdated or hard to verify. In a September 19, 2026 DEV Community post, Wraith presents Model Truth Desk as an evidence agent for questions about frontier models and their providers. Rather than treating a generated answer as sufficient, it retrieves stored claims that include their provenance.

The example questions in the post are practical and time-sensitive: “which model has 128K+ context and costs under $2 per million input tokens?” and “what’s the context window of Claude Sonnet 4.5?” The system’s goal is not to establish that every model fact is covered. It is to make the claims it has stored inspectable and dated.

Wraith says each claim record carries three pieces of evidence: an official provider source URL, the exact quote supporting the claim, and the date the information was observed. The system can also flag a claim as stale. Those details help a reader check where an answer came from and how old the underlying observation is.

- EIGHT CHANNEL LPDDR5X - LPDDR5X is a new ground breaking memory small form factor installed on-board. With blazing speeds up to to 8000MT/s, it runs 1.5x faster than the DDR5 SODIMMs; 90% better performance over DDR5 SODIMMs in video conferencing and photo editing; 30% better performance in productivity apps; 12% better performance in digital content workloads.
- QUAD SCREEN 8K DISPLAY SUPPORT - EVO-X2 AI Mini PC support 4-screen 4K/8K output via HDMI 2.1 (8K@60Hz), DisplayPort 1.4 (4K@60Hz), and dual USB 4 40Gbps Transfer speed (supporting PD3.0/DP1.4/DATA). Ideal for gaming, video editing, and multitasking, it provides expansive and crisp multi-display support.
That is useful, but it does not make an answer automatically correct or current. A record can only reflect what was captured, and a dated observation is not proof that a provider has not changed its page since. The receipts make verification possible; they do not replace it.
Why the system keeps model facts over time
A model specification can change without the older value becoming false for the period when it applied. The post uses Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet context window to illustrate this distinction: Wraith reports that a 1-million-token beta window was retired on April 30, 2026, and that a 200,000-token window was current when the post was written. This is the author’s account at publication, not an independently verified or current specification.
As described, Model Truth Desk resolves claims by their effective time interval instead of deleting earlier values or treating every change as a contradiction. Preserving the history lets the answer distinguish “what applied then” from “what was reported as current later.” That is a better fit for changing product facts than keeping only one timeless value.

How the prototype is put together
The project stores its knowledge base in Sanity as typed evidenceClaim documents. Wraith says it queries the content through Sanity’s hosted Context MCP endpoint. Sanity Studio supports reviewing claims, while a small Next.js demonstration interface is hosted on Netlify.
The post describes a prototype built in a single day for a hackathon challenge. It names a public demo, repository, and Studio, but their availability and behavior have not been independently established here. The write-up also says the formal challenge submission with judging criteria was being finalized separately, so it does not provide those criteria.
What the example answer shows—and what it does not
For the question about at least 128K context and input pricing below $2 per million tokens, Wraith says the agent returned Claude Haiku 4.5, with a 200,000-token context and input pricing of $1 per million tokens. The post describes both figures as observed “today.” They are a dated example from the September 19, 2026 account, not a present-day price check or recommendation.

The example demonstrates how the system can combine stored claims to answer a constraint-based question. It does not establish that the listed model remains the cheapest match, that the figures still apply, or that the agent has broad coverage of available models.
The most important limitation is coverage
Wraith reports that the prototype had eight claims and one contradiction example at the time of the post. Coverage is limited to claims that have been ingested; a model or fact missing from the knowledge base is outside the agent’s evidence base. The author says it responds, “I don’t have a sourced claim for that” rather than guessing, describing that behavior as both the point and the gap.
That refusal is a sensible boundary for an evidence-focused tool: it makes a missing record visible instead of disguising it as certainty. But for readers, it also means usefulness depends on how quickly the knowledge base is populated and maintained. The project demonstrates an architecture and a cautious answer policy, not comprehensive model research or a benchmark against competing products.

How to judge the idea
Model Truth Desk is most interesting as a design pattern for fast-changing technical facts. When assessing a similar agent, look for whether it:
- Answers from traceable, ingested evidence rather than relying solely on model memory.
- Shows the source quote and observation date alongside each claim.
- Surfaces stale claims instead of presenting them as unquestionably current.
- Preserves historical values and indicates when each one applied.
- Declines to answer when the evidence base does not contain a supported claim.
These are useful design checks, not measured performance results. The post’s small corpus and single contradiction case do not show how the system would handle broad coverage, frequent provider changes, or a larger set of conflicting claims.
