Christina Plemmenou built Tempo after finding that the time trackers she tried felt either too complicated for her solo workflow or visually unappealing. Her account is less a claim that one app is best for everyone than a case study in designing a timer around one immediate task: start tracking without a setup maze.
Why Plemmenou wanted a different kind of time tracker
As a technical project manager, Plemmenou says she needed to track client hours, project phases, and billable work. In her experience, Toggl was “too powerful,” Clockify felt similar, and Harvest seemed oriented toward teams rather than her individual needs. She also found many tracker interfaces unattractive or dated. Those are her personal impressions, not an independent comparison of the products.

The friction she wanted to remove was the gap between deciding to track time and actually starting a timer. Her ideal action was “tap a button, start tracking.” She says setup and choices made it easier for her to put tracking off, leaving her less certain about where billable time had gone. That is her account of her own workflow, not evidence that other users routinely lose billable hours.

What Tempo includes—and what it leaves out
Plemmenou describes Tempo as a minimal Android time-tracking app. In her article, its core features are:
#1 Best Overall
- ✔This daily plan pad features detailed hourly schedule timelines from 12 AM to 11 PM, perfectly segment your morning, afternoon and evening hours. Track meetings, appointments and fixed tasks hour by hour to eliminate procrastination and boost your daily time management efficiency.
- ✔ 1.Put an end to the time black hole: Every hour of activity is recorded, so you always know where your time goes and bid farewell to "being busy yet achieving nothing". 2.Cure procrastination: Visual time grids have an inherent sense of supervision; blank time slots serve as a direct reminder, with more binding power than phone alerts. 3.Gain instant a sense of accomplishment: Check off completed tasks with a simple tick. A filled time axis page by page delivers physical feedback that digital tools cannot match, making it easier to keep going the more you use it.
- ✔ 1.Students & Exam Takers: Plan class, review and practice time; allocate study hours for each subject precisely for targeted exam preparation. 2.Professionals: Schedule meetings, work projects and commute time; prioritize tasks clearly and bid farewell to chaotic overtime. 3.Freelancers & Stay-at-Home Parents: Clearly divide work/childcare/personal time to avoid blurring the boundaries between life and work. 4.Self-Discipline Enthusiasts: Check in on fitness, reading and learning; develop regular routines with hourly scales to build good habits effortlessly.
- One-tap time tracking.
- A billable or non-billable toggle.
- Daily and weekly reports.
- Custom projects with icons and colors.
- Offline operation without an account.
She says Tempo does not include project management, team collaboration, integrations, or invoicing. The design choice is to keep the app focused on recording time rather than trying to manage the work around it. Because a current store listing and app status were not independently verified, these details describe the app as Plemmenou presented it in her August 29, 2026 account; they should not be taken as confirmation of current availability or functionality.
Who might find this approach useful
Plemmenou names freelancers who bill hourly, remote workers, and students as possible users. A freelancer could review recorded billable hours before preparing an invoice; a remote worker or student could use reports to look back at how time was spent. These are plausible uses she suggests, not measured evidence that Tempo improves tracking accuracy or productivity.

- REDUCE OVERWHELM & IMPROVE EXECUTION – Use this task planner, productivity planner, and task tracker to organize workflow and improve execution
- TASK PLANNING + ACTIVITY TRACKING IN ONE FORMAT – Use as a productivity planner, task organizer, and workflow planner to manage tasks and execution
- ANALOG TASK & ACTIVITY SYSTEM THAT WORKS – Writing tasks improves memory and reduces missed steps
- STRUCTURED CHECKLIST + LOG FORMAT – Combines task planning and activity tracking with expanded space for detailed workflow management
The trade-off is straightforward: a narrow tool can make its main action easier to reach, but people who need a shared team workflow, project management, integrations, or built-in invoicing may need other software alongside it. In the author’s framing, those omissions are boundaries, not missing promises.

Plemmenou says she built Tempo without writing code, using AI tools she does not name. She estimates that the work took “2–3 months”; that is her reported personal timeline, not a typical app-development estimate. She describes encountering bugs and confusing user-experience choices along the way.

Early testers, she says, raised issues and requested changes such as more currency options for billable tracking and a clearer project-creation flow. She reports making two rounds of fixes before public release. Her account does not specify the tools, number of testers, testing method, release date, or the app’s present status.

The clearest lesson in Plemmenou’s story is that a smaller feature set does not happen by accident. As she puts it, “Adding features is easy. Deciding what not to build is the real work.” For Tempo, that meant prioritizing timer startup, billable status, and basic reports while leaving broader work-management features outside the app.
