The project is a personal response to those frustrations, not a tested comparison of invoice tools.
Why build another invoice generator?
In a maker article, cde-yang says free invoice generators they had tried came with catches: PDFs marked with watermarks unless the user paid, a small invoice allowance before a paywall, and a signup requirement just to download a PDF. They also found templates that looked different from their screenshots.

Those are the author’s experiences, not evidence that every free invoice tool has these limits. The motivating idea was simpler: “It’s a form + a PDF generator — it shouldn’t need a backend or a login.” The author’s DEV profile identifies cde-yang as a solo indie maker.
What InvoiceLark is designed to do
InvoiceLark’s product page describes a browser form for entering business and client details, invoice dates, line items, notes, and payment terms. It includes fields for tax and discounts, and says subtotal, tax, discount, and total update as the user types. The maker says users can choose a template and download a watermark-free PDF without signing up.

How the maker says it handles invoice data
cde-yang says InvoiceLark runs in the browser and keeps invoice data on the user’s device rather than uploading it. The product page gives the same account: “Everything runs in the browser. No server, no database, your invoice data stays on your device.”

That is the maker’s description, not the result of an independent privacy or security audit. The available material does not establish how the app behaves through technical inspection, so users handling sensitive client information should treat the privacy statement as a product-owner claim rather than a verified finding.
What the project does—and does not—establish
InvoiceLark’s stated feature set addresses the specific friction its maker describes: creating a PDF without signup, choosing among several templates and currencies, and keeping client and item details locally for reuse. Export options and a PayPal-linked QR code are also part of the maker’s stated offering.

The story does not provide a competitor test, a feature-by-feature evaluation, or evidence that the author’s experience represents the wider invoice-generator market. It is best read as a solo maker’s account of a small browser app built to avoid particular annoyances, with the feature and privacy descriptions attributed to its maker.
