If you already use Claude Code and want a project-specific starting point for its instructions and supporting files, this browser-based generator gives you four files to review and copy. It asks about your language, project type, package manager, and team size; it does not install them into your repository for you.
What the generator creates
The free, no-signup tool is available at Claude Code Setup Generator. After you choose four project settings, it presents four copyable files:

CLAUDE.md: project-specific guidance covering the stack, hard rules, patterns, and agent guidance..claude/hooks/destructive_hook.py: a Python PreToolUse hook that checks selected shell commands using regular expressions..claude/settings.json: a snippet registering the hook.skills/generate-changelog/SKILL.md: a skill for generating changelogs.
The files are a starting point, not an automatic project setup. The described workflow is to copy them, inspect them, and decide what belongs in your project.
What you choose
The generator uses four selections to tailor its output:
#1 Best Overall
- Main language: TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Go, or Rust.
- Project type: SaaS, library, CLI, or data pipeline.
- Package manager: npm, pnpm, yarn, pip, cargo, or go.
- Team size: solo, 2–5, or 6–20.
How to use the generated files
- Open the generator and select the language, project type, package manager, and team size that best match your project.
- Copy each output file into the corresponding path in your repository. Create the folders if they do not already exist.
- Read
CLAUDE.mdand edit the rules so they reflect your actual stack, conventions, and review expectations rather than accepting generic guidance unchanged. - Review the hook and its registration before enabling them. Test expected allowed and blocked commands in a safe environment, then keep or revise the patterns to fit your workflow.
- Review the changelog skill and adapt its instructions to your release process.
Is the destructive-command hook a security boundary?
No. The creator describes the hook as a single Python file using only the standard library, with default-allow behavior: it is intended to block commands matching selected dangerous patterns while allowing examples such as git push --force-with-lease, DELETE ... WHERE, and rm -rf ./build. That description is a design claim, not an independent security assessment.
Because it relies on regular-expression checks and allows commands by default, it should be treated as a narrow guardrail, not comprehensive protection against destructive actions. The available description does not establish its false-positive or false-negative rates, compatibility with every Claude Code version, or effectiveness against command variations. Inspect the code and test it before relying on it; keep normal safeguards such as version control, backups, and careful review.

How complete are the templates?
The author says the SaaS and CLI templates are more developed than the library and data-pipeline versions. Whichever project type you choose, expect to tailor the generated instructions to the repository. The generator’s four choices cannot, by themselves, capture every framework, tool, convention, or team policy your project may require.

What it does not establish
The available article description identifies the generator as a copy-and-paste tool. It does not establish its current uptime, privacy or data-handling practices, source-code license, or compatibility across Claude Code releases. If those details matter to your project, verify them before adopting the files. It also does not provide a named-alternative comparison or independent tests showing that the generator saves a particular amount of time.
