The documented structure system is the world-generation framework: WorldStructure assets define generated worlds, biome assets can place prefabs and points of interest, and saved volumes can drive encounters and puzzles. Hytale’s 2026 WorldGen V2 roadmap specifically names procedural dungeons and coherent villages and cities as work in progress, so treat those features as planned unless a current release note or your own build confirms otherwise.

What counts as a structure in Hytale?
In Hytale’s documented tools, “structure” can mean several different layers rather than one fixed list of player locations. A complete generated world is controlled by a WorldStructure asset. Inside that world definition, biome rules, framework modules, graph generators, spawn positions and other systems determine what terrain and content can appear. Smaller constructions are handled separately as reusable prefabs or as points of interest placed by biome-generation assets.

This distinction matters because a player-facing catalog and a creator-facing system are not the same thing. The official documentation explains how to define and combine generation assets, but it does not publish a complete list of every structure that appears in every world. The current documentation identifies Release 0.7.2 as its version, while the Hytale Team’s 2026 WorldGen V2 update describes major world-generation features as still being developed.

How Hytale’s world-structure system fits together
The World Structure asset is the top level
The official world-generation reference describes WorldStructure as the asset that defines an entire generated world. Its documented responsibilities include the default biome, biome density, biome delimiters, transition distance, edge-distance tracking, spawn positions, framework modules and graph-generator components. In practical terms, this is the configuration layer that tells the generator what kind of world it is building and which systems participate in that build.

A dungeon-like site or village therefore does not have to be a special hard-coded object. It can be authored as content that the world’s biome and placement systems know how to use. Whether a particular construction appears depends on the relevant assets and generation rules in that world, not on a universal promise that every seed contains the same locations.
WorldStructures JSON assets provide reusable variants
World-structure assets are stored in the Server/HytaleGenerator/WorldStructures/ directory and use JSON files. The reference supports inheritance: a child asset names a parent, receives the parent’s settings, and replaces fields that it defines itself. Nested values follow the behavior of the individual field, so creators should verify how a particular property merges rather than assuming that every nested object is combined in the same way.

You can keep shared biome, spawn or framework settings in a parent, then create a variant that changes only the world-specific values. It also gives a project a clear place to review changes when the generator evolves.
Biomes place props and points of interest
Hytale’s biome guide places generation assets under HytaleGenerator and identifies both WorldStructure and Biomes assets. Biome props can add prefabs and points of interest. This is the bridge between broad terrain generation and a specific construction: a biome rule can request a reusable building, landmark or gameplay site at locations that satisfy its placement conditions.
The documentation does not state a universal spawn rate, minimum distance, rarity tier or coordinate pattern for these props. Those values belong to the relevant assets and world configuration, so a creator should inspect the files used by the world rather than infer a rule from one generated map.

Where can you find dungeons and villages?
Dungeons
There is no authoritative, current guide that supplies universal dungeon coordinates, a complete dungeon list or a guaranteed search route. The official WorldGen V2 update says Hytale will expand its world generation with dedicated features to support procedural dungeons. That wording identifies an active development direction, not proof that a finished procedural-dungeon catalog is present in every release.
If you are playing a particular server or creator-made world, its author may have placed dungeon-style areas as prefabs, points of interest or hand-built locations. Their positions and rules are specific to that world. Check that world’s documentation or ask its administrator instead of applying a coordinate list from another map.
Villages and cities
The same WorldGen V2 statement names coherent villages and cities, along with rivers and roads, as dedicated features the team plans to support. “Coherent” implies a system that can assemble settlements and their surrounding infrastructure consistently, but the statement does not publish settlement types, NPC rosters, generation frequency, biome restrictions or a final release date.
A creator can still make a village today using ordinary construction, prefabs, biome props and points of interest. That is different from claiming that the planned, procedural village-and-city system is complete. A settlement you encounter may be authored content rather than output from a finalized global village generator.
Ruins and other landmarks
The supplied official references explain the systems for adding reusable constructions and points of interest, but they do not provide a definitive catalog of ruins, temples, towers, camps or other named landmark classes. Treat a landmark as confirmed only when the current game build, its asset files or a dated official release note documents it.

Can you make your own dungeon or village?
Yes. Hytale’s content guide presents editable assets as the basis for everything from blocks to entire worlds and says creators can edit or add content without needing developer knowledge. The documented workflow is modular: define the world behavior, build reusable construction content, place it through biome-generation rules, and add volumes when the space needs scripted interactions.
- Start with the documented asset layout. Work inside the
HytaleGeneratorasset structure and identify the world-structure and biome assets used by your project. - Choose or extend a WorldStructure. Create a new JSON asset under
Server/HytaleGenerator/WorldStructures/, or inherit from an existing parent when you need shared settings. Set the biome, delimiters, transition behavior, spawn positions, framework modules and graph-generator components appropriate to the world. - Build the construction as reusable content. A prefab can represent a house, gate, room, market stall, shrine, corridor or complete encounter space. Keep repeated pieces modular so you can revise one asset instead of rebuilding every copy.
- Place it through biome props or points of interest. Add the prefab to the relevant biome-generation asset and define the conditions under which it can be selected. The exact placement values are project-specific; do not assume that a setting used in one biome applies globally.
- Add volumes for interactive areas. Update 5 allows volumes saved in worlds and included in prefabs. Use them to mark encounter triggers, environmental effects, area transitions, ambushes, story beats, hidden discoveries, puzzles or safe zones without writing code for each boundary.
- Generate fresh terrain to preview the result. World-generation changes generally need newly generated chunks or a documented regeneration workflow before you can evaluate them. Keep a test world separate from a valuable save so that regeneration does not destroy player progress.
- Validate inheritance and placement. Confirm that child assets actually override the fields you intended, that nested settings merge as expected, and that the prefab is available to the biome or point-of-interest rule that references it.
Prefab, hand-built and procedural approaches compared
These approaches solve different authoring problems. A hand-built site gives the designer maximum control over a single location. A reusable prefab makes a construction repeatable. A procedurally placed structure lets generation choose where and, depending on the system, how instances fit into the world.
| Approach | Authoring control | Repeatability | World-generation integration | Interactive support | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hand-built location | Highest for one exact site, layout and detail. | Low unless copied into a reusable asset. | Must be connected to the world or server’s placement workflow. | Can use saved volumes, but each site may need separate setup. | Changes are often manual for every copy. |
| Reusable prefab | High within the prefab’s defined footprint. | High; the same asset can be placed repeatedly. | Can be referenced by biome props and points of interest. | Update 5 volumes can carry encounters, transitions, puzzles and safe zones. | Inheritance and centralized editing reduce repeated work. |
| Procedurally placed structure | Rules control placement; individual outcomes are less predictable. | High across generated worlds. | Designed to participate directly in world and biome generation. | Depends on the prefab, volume and generator systems used together. | Rules and parent assets must be versioned and tested as the generator changes. |
What Update 5 volumes add to structures
A volume is a saved region that can travel with a world or prefab. Update 5’s notes describe volumes as a way to drive behavior without writing code for every space. This makes them especially useful when a building is more than scenery.
- Encounters: define the area in which an encounter starts or changes state.
- Environmental effects: apply an effect to a bounded room, corridor or outdoor zone.
- Transitions: mark a boundary between areas or stages of an experience.
- Ambushes and story beats: use entry or presence in a volume as the trigger for a planned moment.
- Hidden discoveries and puzzles: isolate the space in which a clue, mechanism or reveal is evaluated.
- Safe zones: identify an area where the intended encounter rules differ from surrounding terrain.
Volumes do not, by themselves, establish a universal dungeon format or guarantee a particular reward. They are a building block that a creator can include in a prefab and connect to the project’s encounter and environmental logic.

Keep repeated rooms modular
Make common elements—doors, corridors, reward rooms or support buildings—separate prefabs when they will appear more than once. A parent world structure can then provide shared generation behavior while biome assets select the pieces appropriate to a location.
Use points of interest for discoverability
If the site should be selected as a landmark rather than placed at a fixed hand-authored coordinate, connect the prefab to the biome’s point-of-interest rules. Test the result across fresh generated areas; one successful placement is not evidence of a global spawn guarantee.

Attach volumes to the spaces that need logic
Place encounter, transition, puzzle and safe-zone volumes only where their boundaries are meaningful. Overlapping regions can make debugging difficult, so document which volume owns each trigger and test entry, exit and re-entry behavior.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Designing a village-style structure
Separate settlement pieces from placement rules
Build houses, roads, public spaces and utility structures as reusable pieces. Keep their visual construction in prefabs and their biome compatibility and placement decisions in the generation assets. This separation lets you reuse a house in more than one settlement style without duplicating its geometry.
Use inheritance for settlement variants
A parent world structure can hold common biome and framework behavior, while a child variant changes the settings needed for a different environment. Review nested fields carefully: the reference warns that replacement behavior depends on the field, so not every nested object merges identically.
Best Value
Do not imply a finished procedural city system
Hand-authored or creator-generated settlements are possible with the documented tools. The official WorldGen V2 roadmap’s promise of coherent villages and cities concerns dedicated future support; it should not be presented as an already-complete, universal settlement generator.

Loot, bosses and NPCs: what is actually documented?
The available official material does not provide dungeon loot tables, boss lists, named dungeon tiers, village NPC rosters or guaranteed rewards. A structure’s geometry and placement system is not evidence of its contents. Rewards, enemies and residents may be defined by a particular world, server or creator asset, but those details must come from that project or a later authoritative release note.
When documenting a custom structure, state the scope precisely: identify the world or server, the asset version and whether an encounter is hand-authored or generated. Avoid turning one creator’s implementation into a claim about all Hytale worlds.
How to troubleshoot a structure that does not appear
The prefab never generates
- Check that the prefab is referenced by the intended biome prop or point-of-interest asset.
- Confirm that the biome is reachable from the active
WorldStructureand that its delimiters and density settings permit the placement. - Generate new chunks or use the documented regeneration workflow; previously generated terrain may not be reevaluated automatically.
The child world does not behave as expected
- Verify the parent asset name and file location under
Server/HytaleGenerator/WorldStructures/. - Check the child’s spelling and data types for every overridden field.
- Inspect nested settings individually because inheritance behavior varies by field.
The structure appears, but its interaction does not fire
- Confirm that the volume was saved with the prefab or world and that its boundary covers the intended space.
- Test entering, leaving and re-entering the volume, especially where multiple volumes overlap.
- Separate the construction test from the encounter test so you can tell whether placement or scripted behavior is failing.
Players report different results on different maps
Compare the world-structure asset, biome assets, generated-chunk history and server content versions before treating the difference as a bug. A reusable asset can be present in one configured world and absent from another without either result contradicting the documentation.
What the WorldGen V2 roadmap means for players and creators
In “First Look: Chapter 1 and More” (2026), the Hytale Team says it is fully redesigning the world with WorldGen V2 and will expand it with dedicated support for procedural dungeons, coherent villages and cities, rivers, roads and other features. The team also says it has doubled the size of the level-design team working on world generation. Those statements signal active investment, not a finished feature matrix.

A practical checklist before publishing a structure
- Identify whether the site is hand-built, a reusable prefab, or procedurally placed.
- Record the world-structure and biome assets that control it.
- Keep JSON files under the documented
Server/HytaleGenerator/WorldStructures/path when they define world-structure variants. - Document parent-child inheritance and every intentional override.
- Test fresh chunks as well as an existing save.
- Verify prefab placement through biome props or points of interest.
- Save and test volumes for encounters, effects, transitions, puzzles and safe zones.
- Describe loot, bosses and NPCs only when the specific world or release documentation confirms them.
- Label roadmap features as planned until a dated release note or current build confirms availability.
Bottom line
Hytale’s current, documented structure capability is a flexible generation and authoring system rather than a completed player-facing catalog. WorldStructure assets define worlds, biome assets place prefabs and points of interest, inheritance supports maintainable variants, and Update 5 volumes add interaction-ready regions. You can build dungeon- and village-style content with those tools, but the official 2026 roadmap still treats dedicated procedural dungeons and coherent villages or cities as work in progress. Until a later release documents exact locations and contents, there is no reliable universal list of Hytale structures, spawn rates, loot or bosses to publish.
