Hypixel Studios lists 4 GB of host memory as the minimum for running a Hytale dedicated server, and supports x64 and arm64 devices. That is a baseline for running the software—not a promise that 4 GB will suit every player count, world or mod setup. Actual CPU and memory needs depend on how people play, so plan to monitor the server under its real workload.
Official Hytale dedicated-server requirements
The Hytale Server Manual, updated March 29, 2026, says the server can run on a device with at least 4 GB of memory and Java 25. It supports both x64 and arm64 architectures.

- Memory: 4 GB minimum stated for the host device. Treat this as an entry threshold, not a workload guarantee.
- Java: Java 25 is the manual’s general setup requirement. The manual uses
java --versionto verify the installed version. - Architecture: x64 and arm64 are supported.
The manual does not establish a dependable number of players for a given amount of RAM. A player-count-to-memory estimate would be misleading without accounting for world activity, entities, view distance and other server behavior.

How much RAM and CPU should you plan for?
Hypixel Studios says resource use depends heavily on player behavior and recommends monitoring RAM and CPU while the server is in use. The useful target is therefore the server’s observed consumption during the way your group actually plays, rather than a universal RAM-per-player formula.

CPU load
CPU demand can rise with high player counts and high entity counts, including NPCs and mobs. A world where many players and entities are active may put more work on the processor than a quiet private world.
Memory load
Memory demand can increase when the server has large areas of the world loaded, uses a high view distance, or has players exploring in different directions. Those patterns can keep more world data active at once.
Set and test the Java heap limit
The manual recommends experimenting with Java’s -Xmx parameter to set an explicit maximum heap limit. Adjust it while observing actual memory and CPU use: memory pressure can lead to increased CPU use from garbage collection. A heap limit is not a substitute for enough host memory for the operating system and other processes.

The manual recommends a maximum view distance of 12 chunks (384 blocks). Check the current server configuration before changing view distance, since configuration details can evolve.
Server requirements are not client requirements
The server’s 4 GB minimum should not be confused with the memory guidance for playing Hytale. Hypixel Studios’ Hytale Hardware Requirements page lists 8 GB RAM minimum and 16 GB recommended for the game client, alongside client CPU, GPU, operating-system, storage and network guidance.
These figures describe different jobs. In multiplayer, a player’s client connects to a remote server. In singleplayer, the same device runs both the client and server simulation, so the client requirements are not a dedicated-server sizing guide.

Network bandwidth and view distance
Hypixel Studios reports client multiplayer bandwidth measurements for exploration scenarios at three view distances. The figures below come from its December 1, 2025 hardware requirements post and describe worst-case scenarios involving fast travel to load new world data.

These are exploration measurements for multiplayer clients, not a complete bandwidth-sizing model for a dedicated server or a promise about every mode and play session. The manual’s 384-block view-distance recommendation matches one of the distances measured in the hardware post, but operators should not treat the client figure as a universal server-network requirement.
Which host should you use?
Self-hosting
Running the server on your own machine offers direct control over the host and configuration, but you are responsible for installation, authentication, network and firewall configuration, updates, and monitoring. A mini PC is one possible host-device category, not an officially tested recommendation; check its memory, CPU, operating system, architecture, storage and network connection against your intended workload.

Provider hosting
A managed game-server provider can be an option if you do not want to operate the machine and its setup yourself. Hypixel Studios publishes a server manual that includes a provider authentication guide for operators automating authentication across many servers. That technical documentation is not an endorsement of any hosting provider.

For general setup, the March 29, 2026 server manual states Java 25. A narrower exception appears in the Hytale Team’s Pre-Release Patch Notes (Update 6), dated May 28, 2026: for dedicated servers using Shenandoah garbage collection, the team recommends updating to Temurin JRE 26.0.2+10. This is a Shenandoah-specific recommendation, not a blanket replacement for the manual’s general Java instruction.
Update 6 also reports a network protocol move from hytale/2 to hytale/3 and changes to packet layouts, requiring server operators and plugin maintainers to rebuild before connecting. Protocol and runtime details can change during Early Access, so check the current manual and release notes when installing, upgrading or maintaining plugins.

Follow the official setup instructions
The official server manual covers the launch command using HytaleServer.jar and Assets.zip, first-run device authentication, ports and firewall configuration, mods, automatic updates and server file structure. It also explains that authentication is required for service API communication and abuse prevention. Use that manual for the current installation sequence rather than relying on older third-party command guides.
Operators considering monetization or listed-server obligations should read the current EULA and server policies directly. The EULA effective January 13, 2026 covers dedicated-server software and says requirements may change as the game evolves. Server Operator Policies version 1.1, effective January 13, 2026, state that listed-server discovery is not currently available and distinguish baseline operator rules from additional obligations for listed servers.
