The Hunker Pod is a removable camper interior designed for a specific van: a Ram ProMaster with a 159-inch wheelbase, model year 2014 or newer. Hunker lists the Pod at $32,995, with the vehicle sold separately. Its advertised setup includes a bed, lounge, kitchen, refrigerator, water system and off-grid power—but fit, final equipment and total cost need checking before you commit.
What is the Hunker Pod?
The Pod is a professionally installed camper interior developed by Innovation4Van and refined for North America by the team behind Native Campervans. Unlike a conventional conversion built permanently into a van, Hunker presents the Pod as a removable unit that can be transferred to another compatible ProMaster. Hunker says no exterior modifications are required; SlashGear reports that the system bolts to factory inserts without drilling. Those are company and media descriptions, not independent installation findings.

Hunker describes its product as “a complete campervan conversion that installs in about an hour, not weeks.” That is the company’s characterization of installation, rather than a promise about every customer’s scheduling or vehicle preparation.

Hunker specifies a Ram ProMaster with a 159-inch wheelbase, model year 2014 or newer. It is not presented as a universal van insert, and a matching wheelbase and year alone should not be treated as confirmation that every configuration will work. What comes with the Pod?
Hunker’s product page advertises a queen bed, lounge, kitchen and prep space, storage, a Dometic refrigerator, fresh-water system and off-grid electrical equipment. The listed electrical system is a TrekMount setup with a 312Ah lithium battery, 1,200-watt inverter, USB charging and dimmable LED lighting. These are company-stated specifications; Hunker says final configuration is coordinated after reservation, so confirm which items are included and which options cost extra.
The company says the layout has been refined through more than 11 years of operating and renting ProMaster campervans at Native Campervans. That experience claim comes from Hunker, not an independent evaluation of the Pod.

How much does it cost, and does that include the van?
Hunker’s current product page lists a starting price of $32,995 for the Pod system. The van is extra. Hunker’s ownership page estimates a complete setup at roughly $55,000 with a used ProMaster and roughly $78,000 with a new one, noting that location, options and vehicle condition affect the totals. These are seller estimates, not independently audited or market-wide cost comparisons.
Hunker also presents traditional campervan builds in a claimed $120,000–$200,000+ range. That is the company’s comparison, not an independently established typical price for fixed conversions. For any purchase decision, compare written, like-for-like quotes that account for the vehicle, equipment, installation, taxes and any options.

How does buying and installation work?
Hunker’s FAQ describes a $100 fully refundable reservation deposit, followed by coordination of the configuration, vehicle sourcing if desired and installation. The company says professional installation takes about an hour at its Denver headquarters. The stated installation duration does not establish how soon an appointment will be available, or whether additional time is needed for a particular vehicle.
- Confirm fitment: Give Hunker the van’s exact model year, wheelbase and configuration and ask for written confirmation.
- Confirm the build: Request the final equipment and options list, including what is included in the starting price.
- Review the reservation terms: Verify the deposit’s refund conditions and any current payment or cancellation terms before placing it.
- Arrange the vehicle and installation: Clarify who is sourcing the ProMaster, where installation will occur, and the expected schedule.
Can you remove it or move it to another van?
Removability is the central distinction Hunker promotes: the camper unit is intended to come out so the van can be used without it, and Hunker says it can be moved to another compatible ProMaster. The published fitment requirement still applies to the replacement vehicle, so confirm compatibility again before relying on transferability.
A removable interior may let an owner replace the vehicle without rebuilding the camper from scratch, but that does not establish a particular resale value, service life or lifetime savings. The available product descriptions do not provide independent load-safety certification, performance testing or long-term reliability results.

How does it compare with a fixed conversion?
| Decision factor | Hunker Pod | Conventional fixed conversion |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle fit | Specified for a 2014-or-newer Ram ProMaster with a 159-inch wheelbase; verify exact configuration with Hunker. | Depends on the particular build and vehicle; no single fitment applies to all conversions. |
| Vehicle modifications | Hunker says no exterior modifications are required; SlashGear reports bolt attachment to factory inserts without drilling. | Varies by builder and build; the available sources do not establish a universal approach. |
| Removal and transfer | Marketed as removable and transferable to another compatible ProMaster. | Usually treated as a build tied to its original vehicle; specifics depend on the conversion. |
| Installation time | Hunker says professional installation takes about an hour at its Denver headquarters. | Depends on scope and builder; no single duration is established here. |
| Equipment and price | Hunker lists a $32,995 starting price, with van extra, and advertises the equipment described above. | Costs and included equipment vary; Hunker’s traditional-build price comparison is a seller claim, not an independent benchmark. |
The Pod’s strongest case is for someone who wants a removable interior and is willing to use the specified ProMaster. A fixed conversion may suit buyers who need a different van or a more individually tailored build, but the available information does not support a blanket cost, durability or resale verdict between the two approaches.
Can you try one before buying?
Hunker points prospective buyers to Native Campervans Biggie rentals as a way to experience the same Pod layout. Rental locations, availability and terms can change, so check with Native Campervans before making plans. This can help you assess whether the layout works for your needs, but a rental does not by itself verify fitment in your own vehicle or the details of a purchase configuration.
