Its current notice tells owners to stop using the recalled case and discard it using appropriate battery-disposal procedures.
What was recalled—and what was not
The October 31, 2024 CPSC recall covers about 10,500 Charge Case Accessories, the portable charging case sold for Humane’s Ai Pin. The CPSC says the lithium-ion battery in the case can overheat, creating a fire hazard. The notice was updated June 2, 2025, and now says the remedy is no longer available. CPSC recall notice

This is not a recall of the Ai Pin itself. Humane says the Ai Pin, Battery Booster and Charge Pad are not affected by this recall. That distinction applies to this specific recall; it does not establish that every possible risk associated with any product has been ruled out. Humane’s Charge Case Accessory Recall Program
What happened and how serious was the reported incident?
The CPSC reports one incident in which a Charge Case Accessory overheated and melted while charging. It says no injuries or property damage were reported. That is the incident count in the recall notice, not a general estimate of battery-fire risk.

Humane says the report that prompted its investigation involved use of a third-party USB-C cable and third-party power source. The CPSC identifies the hazard as overheating of the case’s lithium-ion battery; its notice does not identify those third-party accessories as the root cause. Humane attributes the problem to certain battery cells supplied for the case, writing that the issue “is isolated only to certain battery cells used in the Charge Case Accessory and is not related to the Charge Case Accessory hardware design.”
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What owners should do now
- Stop using the recalled Charge Case Accessory immediately. Do not charge with it or keep using it as a power source.
- Do not put it in ordinary household trash or a common retail battery-recycling box. The CPSC warns that recalled lithium-ion batteries should be handled according to local and state procedures for damaged, defective or recalled batteries.
- Follow local and state disposal directions for recalled batteries. The CPSC’s current instruction is to destroy and discard the recalled case, but its notice also warns against ordinary trash and common retail collection boxes. Contact the relevant local waste or hazardous-materials authority for an accepted method of handling it.
The CPSC notice says the remedy is no longer available. Do not rely on older recall information suggesting a replacement or other remedy can still be obtained.
How to identify the recalled accessory
The affected item is Humane’s Charge Case Accessory for Ai Pin—the separate case used to charge the wearable—not the Ai Pin, Battery Booster or Charge Pad. CPSC says it was sold online at humane.com from November 2023 through May 2024. It was included in the Ai Pin Complete System, reported at $700–$800, or sold separately for about $150. Those are historical prices from the recall notice, not current prices or resale values.

What Humane says about the other products
Humane says the battery supplier involved did not supply batteries or other components for its Ai Pin, Battery Booster or Charge Pad, and says those products are safe for continued use. This is Humane’s statement about the scope of this recall; the CPSC recall applies to the Charge Case Accessory.
