Battery capacities and screen sizes are reported by FoneArena; chipset assignments and tier-specific display features are described in Huawei’s Mate 90 series product material. The available launch summaries do not provide a complete, model-by-model camera specification table, so camera differences should be checked against the exact model listing in the buyer’s market.
What design and durability features did Huawei announce?
Huawei’s product material describes a crystal-grid back design and metal construction across the series. It specifies Kunlun Xuanwu protection for Pro and higher models, alongside a second-generation Linglong display on Pro and above. The standard Mate 90 is not included in those cited Pro-and-above feature descriptions.

Huawei says the series carries IP68 dust and water resistance to a depth of up to 6 meters, as well as IP69 resistance to high-temperature, high-pressure water jets. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent durability-test results; IP ratings also do not make a phone immune to damage from water or dust.

Huawei’s October 1 launch release reports overall performance gains of 27% for the standard Mate 90, 20% for the Pro comparison, and 31% for Pro Max Premium Edition and RS comparisons. These are Huawei’s own comparisons, not independently measured benchmark results. The launch release also describes hardware-accelerated ray tracing at up to 55 million rays per second; that figure is likewise a company claim.

FoneArena reports Huawei’s claim that the Mate 90 Pro display reaches a peak brightness of 12,000 nits at 1% APL (average picture level). The same report quotes Huawei claiming a 138% increase in panel lifespan. Huawei product material also describes a 1-nit low-brightness mode. The 12,000-nit figure is tied to the stated 1% APL condition and should not be read as typical full-screen brightness; the lifespan figure is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified result.
Huawei’s launch release also says the company invested CNY 1.8 trillion in research and development between 2007 and the end of 2025. This is Huawei’s cumulative investment figure, not a measure of the Mate 90’s performance or a handset specification. The October 1 launch release provides the company’s stated comparisons and claims.

Is the Mate 90 series coming to other countries?
