Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →HttpForge is a .NET MAUI library that, according to its package author, turns attributed C# interfaces into REST client implementations generated at build time. Instead of writing each request directly against HttpClient, you describe endpoints such as GetUser(42) on an interface and call the generated typed client. The package author identifies the version as Plugin.Maui.HttpForge 1.1.1; its current package metadata and compatibility claims could not be independently verified here.
What HttpForge does
Microsoft’s .NET MAUI guidance uses HttpClient to send REST requests and receive responses. HttpForge is presented as an abstraction over that workflow: declare operations on a C# interface with attributes such as [Get] and [Post], then let a source generator create the client implementation at compile time. The author says the generated approach does not use a reflection-based request builder.

The package is distributed as NuGet software, not a physical device or accessory. The author describes HttpForge as the endpoint-contract-to-client layer, with retry, caching, token refresh, and resumable uploads handled by optional companion packages rather than the core library. That is the author’s account of the package architecture, not an independently audited dependency analysis. See the package-author article on HttpForge 1.1.1 and Microsoft’s .NET MAUI REST-service guidance.

What endpoint features the author reports
The package article reports support for the following request patterns. Confirm exact attribute names and behavior in documentation matching the package version before depending on a specific contract shape.
#1 Best Overall
- GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH, and HEAD operations.
- Path parameters, optional route segments, query parameters, and query objects.
- JSON request bodies, headers, multipart forms, and form-object flattening.
- Streaming with
IAsyncEnumerable<T>and request compression. - Token attachment, configurable collection formats, query-key naming, runtime URLs, timeouts, and rich response types.
How to add and register a client
Install the package
The package article gives this NuGet CLI command:
dotnet add package Plugin.Maui.HttpForge
Register a typed client in a MAUI app
The author shows calling .UseHttpForge() in MAUI setup and registering an interface with AddHttpForgeClient<IUserApi>(), along with a base address. The registration reportedly returns an IHttpClientBuilder, so HTTP handlers can be attached to the client.
builder.UseHttpForge();
builder.Services.AddHttpForgeClient<IUserApi>(client =>
{
client.BaseAddress = new Uri("https://api.example.com/");
});
The base address and interface here illustrate the reported registration pattern; use the exact API and configuration syntax documented for the package version you install. The author also describes a RestService.For<T> route for console or test hosts that do not use MAUI.

Choose how callers handle responses
The package article describes two result styles. With Task<T>, it says HTTP 4xx and 5xx responses raise ApiException, while transport failures such as timeouts, DNS failures, or TLS problems raise ApiRequestException. With Task<IApiResponse<T>>, callers can inspect status, headers, and body and branch on the response. Verify exception and response semantics against the documentation for the version in use.
What happens when an interface shape is unsupported
According to the author, unsupported interface contracts produce compile-time diagnostics HFG001–HFG010 rather than switching to reflection at runtime. One reported example is HFG008, raised when [FormObject] is used without [Multipart]. The author says there is no reflection-fallback package and recommends using ordinary HttpClient for calls the generator cannot represent. That means compile-time validation is useful only if the generated contract covers the endpoints the app needs.

Compatibility and integration cautions
Verify target frameworks for the exact package build
The package author reports targets including net10.0, net10.0-android (API 21+), net10.0-ios and net10.0-maccatalyst (15+), and net10.0-windows10.0.19041.0. These are version-specific claims, and the repository, NuGet page, and linked package documentation could not be independently opened for verification. Check the 1.1.1 package metadata and documentation before selecting it for a project or relying on a listed target.
Validate runtime URLs and avoid competing token refresh
The author cautions that values supplied through runtime [Url] parameters should be validated. The article also recommends having only one 401-refresh owner on a client—either SecureSession or ApiResilience token refresh—rather than enabling both. It reports that SecureSession targets Android and iOS, not Mac Catalyst or Windows; confirm companion-package platform support for the versions you plan to use.
Rank #4
When HttpForge may fit—and when it may not
The package author positions HttpForge for teams that want interface-based, generated clients and want to compose the author’s companion packages through IHttpClientBuilder. The same article describes Refit as a sensible choice for teams already using it, projects needing Refit.Reflection, or projects targeting frameworks beyond HttpForge’s reported MAUI matrix. Those are the author’s comparisons, not results from independent feature or performance testing.
For a project decision, compare the specific contract features you need, framework targets verified for the package version, your existing client-library dependencies, and how acceptable it is to implement unsupported calls with raw HttpClient. If HttpForge is new to the project, first confirm that its documented generator surface covers the endpoints and response handling the app requires.
