For importing webpages into editable Figma files, html.to.design is the better-documented capture-first option. Builder.io Visual Copilot makes more sense when importing a page is one step in a wider workflow that also includes design-to-code or Builder Content. Neither can be called the universal winner on fidelity: the available sources do not provide an independent head-to-head test.
How the two tools approach website-to-Figma
html.to.design: focused on capturing webpages
html.to.design is a Figma plugin and browser extension for turning webpages into editable Figma designs. Its documented workflow includes importing a public page by URL, as well as capturing private or logged-in pages through the browser extension. The documentation also describes viewport and theme variants, local styles, auto layout, font handling, and interactions related to prototyping.

Builder.io: import plus a broader design-to-code workflow
Builder.io’s Visual Copilot supports importing a website into Figma by URL, and its Chrome extension can select particular DOM elements to bring into Figma. Builder also offers workflows for moving in the other direction: converting Figma designs toward code and importing Figma designs into Builder Content. Those additional steps are useful if the team plans to continue beyond the Figma file.

Builder’s older Visual Editor feature called “Import your existing site content into Builder” is marked deprecated and removed; it should not be confused with the current Visual Copilot workflow. See Builder’s legacy-feature notice.

Which one fits your task?
| Task | Better-documented fit | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Import a public webpage into an editable Figma design | html.to.design | URL import and the editable capture workflow are central to its product documentation. |
| Capture a private, local, or logged-in page | html.to.design | Its browser-extension documentation covers those browser-session cases. |
| Bring multiple viewport or theme variants into Figma, or import in bulk | html.to.design | Its feature documentation lists variants and batch imports; bulk imports are a PRO feature. |
| Bring a particular page element into Figma | Builder.io can fit | Builder describes selecting DOM elements through its Chrome extension. |
| Move from Figma design toward code or Builder Content | Builder.io | Visual Copilot and Builder’s Figma import workflow cover those downstream steps. |
| Choose based on independently verified import fidelity | Neither can be declared the winner | The available sources contain no independent, comparable head-to-head study. |
What to know about accuracy claims
Builder’s March 27, 2025 website-to-Figma article says typical import accuracy is 80–90%. That is Builder’s own claim, not an independent test or a comparison with html.to.design. It may help frame expectations, but it does not establish which tool reproduces a given site more faithfully.
Builder’s October 12, 2023 Visual Copilot launch article separately claimed 50–80% less time spent turning Figma designs into code. That figure concerns design-to-code, not importing websites into Figma, so it is not evidence about website-import accuracy or speed.

Pricing and import limits
| Tool | Published terms | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| html.to.design | Its PRO documentation lists a free plan at $0 with up to 10 imports every 30 days. PRO is listed at $12 per user per month when billed annually or $18 per user per month when billed monthly. “Unlimited” PRO imports are subject to a fair-use ceiling of 1,000 imports per month. | These are vendor-published terms and may change; confirm the current plan limits and price on the PRO plan page. |
| Builder.io Visual Copilot | Builder’s reviewed 2025 article calls website import free and describes AI design generation as free while in beta. Its current product page associates different Visual Copilot capabilities with Develop or Develop & Publish plans; the sources do not give one directly comparable current price for website import. | Check current plan entitlements and prices on Builder’s product information before choosing based on cost. |
Because the plans describe different workflows and Builder’s available pricing information does not establish a single comparable price for website import, a simple cost-per-import ranking is not supported.

How to choose
- Choose html.to.design when the main job is capturing an existing site into Figma, especially when you need a documented route for logged-in pages or want viewport, theme, or batch-import controls.
- Choose Builder.io Visual Copilot when the import is part of a broader process that will continue into design-to-code or Builder Content.
- Evaluate your own representative pages before standardizing on either tool. Test the page types and states your team actually needs, then inspect the resulting layers and styling in Figma. The available evidence does not establish a universal fidelity winner.
For multilingual sites, html.to.design says it can import language versions that already exist on the site; it does not translate a page. See its multilingual import documentation.

Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is a clean screenshot asset rather than an editable Figma reconstruction, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For example, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of a page:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Before capture, it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with response headers indicating the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.
