Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

It offers practical controls for viewport, theme, fonts, and styles; whether the result is a useful starting point or needs substantial cleanup depends on the page. Treat it as a conversion workflow, not a guarantee of pixel-perfect reconstruction.
What html.to.design does
html.to.design is a Figma plugin paired with a browser extension. The plugin can import a publicly accessible website URL and convert the page into editable Figma layers. Its documented workflow also supports creating local text and color styles for use in the design file.

The browser extension covers a different case: capturing the page as it appears in your browser, including private or logged-in views, local pages, and a specific browser state. You can send a capture to the plugin or save it as an .h2d file for later import. These are two routes into Figma, not evidence that every part of the original site will remain visually exact or editable in the same way.

The published feature information describes available controls and workflow, not an independent accuracy benchmark. It does not establish how well representative sites retain responsive layouts, dynamic content, embedded widgets, unusual fonts, or page-specific states. So a reliable answer to “how well?” depends on your page and should be checked on the actual pages you intend to reuse.

- HTML CSS Design and Build Web Sites
- Comes with secure packaging
- It can be a gift option
Assess fidelity in separate dimensions rather than judging only by the first glance:
- Layout: Check spacing, alignment, columns, and whether the page structure holds at the chosen viewport.
- Typography: Compare font family, weight, line breaks, and text sizing; missing-font controls can help map or download fonts, but do not prove an exact match.
- Assets: Inspect image resolution, cropping, icons, and backgrounds.
- State: Confirm that menus, overlays, localized text, and other browser-visible states are the ones you meant to capture.
- Editability: Select the resulting layers and determine whether the elements you need can be adjusted independently in Figma.
A practical evaluation is to import a representative set of pages at specified viewport sizes, including at least one public page and any important logged-in or stateful view. Compare the resulting layout, type, assets, and layer structure separately; one successful page does not establish fidelity for a different site or page type.
Import a public page or capture a private one
For a public URL
- Open the html.to.design plugin in Figma and provide the publicly accessible page URL.
- Choose the viewport and, where relevant, light or dark theme options.
- Run the import, then inspect the generated layers and styles in Figma.
- Map or download missing fonts if needed, and adjust the result before using it in a redesign or prototype.
The URL importer is intended for URLs publicly accessible on the web. If access requires your login or a page is only available locally, use the extension capture route instead.
For a private page, browser state, or local page
- Open the target page in your browser and establish the state you want to preserve, such as being logged in or selecting a language.
- Use the html.to.design browser extension to capture the visible page.
- Send the capture to the plugin or save it as an .h2d file and import it later.
- Inspect the Figma result for content or layout that did not transfer as expected.
The extension captures what is visible in the browser, which is useful when the URL importer cannot access a private view or when a site’s language controls make the desired language difficult to request directly. A CAPTCHA is not solved by URL import; the documented workaround is to solve it in the browser and capture the page with the extension. See the vendor’s browser extension documentation for its capture workflow and constraints.

Controls and plan limits
The documented feature set includes viewport choices, dark and light themes, style creation or application, and handling for missing fonts. These options can make an import more useful as a design starting point; they should not be read as a fidelity guarantee.
According to html.to.design’s pricing documentation checked on October 3, 2026, the Free plan allows up to 10 imports every 30 days. Pro is listed at $12 per user per month when billed annually or $18 per user per month when billed monthly, and its fair-use policy states 1,000 imports per month. Pro is documented to add high-resolution images, bulk imports, a one-click re-import shortcut, and premium support. Plans, prices, and limits can change, so confirm them on the Pro plan page before subscribing.

How it compares with Figma’s browser extension
Figma also describes an official Chrome extension for capturing a live webpage into structured layers and using it as a starting point for a Figma Make prototype. That makes it an adjacent workflow, but the available descriptions do not establish feature parity or which option recreates pages more accurately. Compare them on the page types you actually work with: public versus session-based capture, viewport and theme controls, style handling, image and font quality, repeat-import workflow, and how much cleanup the resulting layers need. Figma’s description is at Figma Chrome extension.
What the user rating can—and cannot—tell you
When accessed on October 3, 2026, the Google Chrome Web Store listing showed 700,000 users and a 4.6 rating from 137 ratings. The listing warns that ratings update daily and may not reflect the latest reviews. Those figures are a dated store snapshot, not an independent test of reconstruction fidelity or evidence that a particular page will import cleanly. See the Chrome Web Store listing for current listing details.

Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is a clean screenshot rather than editable Figma layers, ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first: it returns a screenshot or PDF through one API request, removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and bills only clean shots—not bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, or cache hits. It also has an MCP server for AI agents.
Example cURL request:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for the free plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does html.to.design make a pixel-perfect Figma copy?
That is not established by the available product documentation. Fidelity needs to be assessed on the specific pages and states you plan to capture.
Can I import a page that requires a login?
Use the browser extension to capture the logged-in page, then send it to the plugin or save it as an .h2d file for later import.
Is html.to.design available as a free tool?
The vendor’s pricing documentation lists a Free plan capped at 10 imports every 30 days; verify current terms on its pricing documentation.
