The HP Veer 4G was a tiny AT&T webOS smartphone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 2.6-inch touchscreen, and 2011-era HSPA+ connectivity—not LTE. It went on sale in the United States on May 15, 2011, with a launch offer of $99.99 and a two-year contract. Here are its documented specifications, what AT&T meant by “4G,” and what the historical record does—and does not—say about using one today.
When did the HP Veer come out?
AT&T announced the Veer as a U.S. exclusive, with availability beginning May 15, 2011, in black and white. The original offer was $99.99 with a two-year contract; that is a launch-era price, not a current value. AT&T’s announcement also described period-specific activation and data-plan terms. It said mobile hotspot required a specified data plan, while AT&T Navigator required a separate subscription. Those terms describe the 2011 offer, not services or prices available now. Does the HP Veer 4G support LTE?
No. The “4G” in the Veer’s AT&T marketing referred to HSPA+ with enhanced backhaul in areas where AT&T offered it, not LTE. AT&T described that coverage as limited and said access depended on a compatible device and plan. A contemporaneous Ars Technica report explicitly noted that the Veer was not LTE-compatible. The most precise description is therefore an AT&T-market HSPA+ phone sold as a 4G device in 2011.
That historical network description does not establish whether a particular Veer can register on a carrier today. Activation depends on the handset, supported bands, carrier network status, and service policies; the cited launch-era sources do not verify present-day compatibility.

How long did the battery last?
AT&T advertised up to 5 hours of talk time and up to 300 hours of standby. HP listed a 910 mAh non-removable battery and cautioned that its battery estimates were approximate and could change with network setup and usage. Treat the time figures as vendor estimates from 2011, not as a guarantee for a used handset or an independent battery test. AT&T and HP QuickSpecs.
What accessories work with the HP Veer?
HP’s QuickSpecs identifies the HP Touchstone Charging Kit as a compatible option sold separately. The documentation also lists accessories such as a magnetic USB cable, chargers, headsets, and adapters. The Touchstone kit was not included by default according to that listing. Because the sources document original compatibility rather than present-day stock or the condition of individual accessories, check the exact item and handset before buying.

What the preview tells you—and what it cannot
The Veer’s defining trade-off is clear from its design and specification sheet: a genuinely pocket-sized body and tactile keyboard, paired with a very small display and the cellular technology of its 2011 launch. The historical sources establish how it was sold, its listed hardware, and the era-specific meaning of its “4G” label. They do not establish current resale prices, the condition of any used device, battery health, working apps or services, carrier activation, or availability of replacement parts and accessories.
