The HP HyperX Omen 16 Valorant Edition makes its game tie-in work through restrained iconography and surface details rather than an overdone theme. Its main everyday drawback is the dark, smooth gray finish: fingerprints show quickly across the lid, palm rests and keyboard.
What makes the Valorant Edition’s design work?
The special-edition styling is minimalist enough to suit someone who likes the look of the game but does not want a laptop covered in loud graphics. The design signals Valorant through its iconography and markings while keeping the overall appearance relatively restrained.

That balance is the reason the design can appeal beyond dedicated players. It looks like a themed Omen rather than a device whose entire appearance is dominated by branding.

Allen Ngo, Notebookcheck’s managing editor for laptops and mobile, describes the dark, smooth gray surfaces as attracting fingerprints more readily than even most ThinkPads. In his August 24, 2026 article, he says smudges build up quickly and become visible almost instantly.

- Newest Generation Intel Core Ultra 7 255H Processor
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Graphics Card
- 16" 2K FHD+ (1920x1200) 400-nits, 100% sRGB, 165Hz, IPS Non-Touch Display
- 16GB DDR5-5600 RAM, 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD
- Backlit Keyboard, Gigabit LAN, 2x2 WiFi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.4, Windows 11
The issue is not limited to one spot. Ngo notes fingerprints on the outer lid, palm rests and keyboard keycaps, as well as other dark gray surfaces. The observation is qualitative; the article provides no measured comparison or quantified fingerprint test, so it should be read as an assessment of how the finish looks in use, not a laboratory result.
Can you choose a white Omen 16 instead?
Ngo says HP offers white Omen 16 configurations, but the Valorant Edition is not among them. That is a limited colorway comparison, not a complete guide to current availability: the article does not list every configuration or establish regional availability.

What should buyers take from the design trade-off?
If the restrained game-themed details are the appeal, the Valorant Edition delivers that look without making the design feel overdone. If visible smudges bother you, its dark, smooth surfaces are a practical compromise to consider. A laptop-safe microfiber cloth may help with routine wiping, but the article does not endorse a cleaning product or establish that any cloth prevents fingerprints.
