On a compatible smart TV, open its app store, search for Showmax, install the free app and sign in. Set up your Showmax account at showmax.com first. If the app is not listed, support depends on your TV’s exact model, software and country—not just its brand.
Install Showmax on a compatible smart TV
- Connect the TV to the internet. Find its model name and operating-system version in the TV’s settings if you need to check compatibility.
- Open the TV’s app store and search for Showmax. Showmax’s FAQ instruction is to “Search for the Showmax app on your smart TV app store.” Store names and menu locations vary by TV.
- Select the free Showmax app shown in the store and install it.
- Open the app and sign in with your Showmax account. If you have not set up an account yet, do that on showmax.com before trying to log in on the TV.
Check whether your TV is supported
Showmax’s official FAQ search-result text lists these examples of device requirements. They are not a guarantee of availability in every country; check Showmax’s current local device information for your exact model and software before relying on them.

If the Showmax app is missing
First verify the TV’s full model and operating-system version against Showmax’s current support information for your country. A listed brand alone does not establish compatibility. If the TV is not supported, Showmax lists Chromecast, Apple TV and Android TV among its viewing options, as well as certain set-top boxes and consoles in some markets.

Internet connection needed for TV viewing
Showmax describes its service as online streaming and recommends a stable connection of 5 to 10 Mbps for the best experience (Showmax; year not stated in the FAQ result). That recommendation does not guarantee a particular playback quality: stability and other network conditions also matter. The FAQ mentions offline downloads on mobile, but that should not be taken to mean you can download programmes for offline viewing on a TV.

The available Showmax FAQ information does not provide a detailed recovery procedure for a missing app, login failure or activation-code issue. Check the current Showmax help information for your country and device rather than assuming that phone mirroring or a laptop-to-TV connection is supported. Showmax’s listing of Chromecast devices does not establish that every phone-to-TV casting method works.
