You can watch MLB without cable, but no single subscription reliably carries every game. For the 2026 U.S. season, use MLB’s team-by-team viewing guide to find your club’s local streaming or TV option, then use MLB.TV mainly for out-of-market games. Nationally exclusive matchups may require a separate service, and blackouts can still apply.
Choose a service based on the game you want
Start with the team and game, not a streaming subscription. MLB’s 2026 guide says all 30 clubs had a direct-to-consumer streaming option, but the local product depends on the club and its home territory. Nationally exclusive games can be carried elsewhere.

- Confirm the app works on your TV, streaming device, phone, or computer and that the game is available where you are before subscribing.
How to watch your local MLB team
For a team in your home territory, use the local broadcast channel or the team’s in-market streaming service shown in MLB’s team guide. Local rights and products vary by club. MLB says some local direct-to-consumer options for MLB-produced teams are available through MLB platforms; other teams have different arrangements. Fourteen clubs added a new DTC option during the 2026 offseason, according to MLB’s July guide.

For MLB-produced local team subscriptions, MLB says the in-market product delivers the club’s local games in its home territory and removes local blackouts for those games. Packages and prices can vary by team and market. See MLB’s 2026 MLB.TV and local-subscription guide for details, then verify the current offer for your club.

How to watch out-of-market games with MLB.TV
MLB.TV is MLB’s main direct-to-consumer option for live regular-season games outside your home market. The service lists home and away feeds, on-demand and archived games, MLB Big Inning, and MLB Network access in the United States. Blackout restrictions apply, so an out-of-market subscription is not a guarantee that every game will be available from every location.
For 2026, the ESPN-hosted MLB.TV information lists a seasonal plan at $149.99 per season and a monthly plan at $29.99 per month. Existing ESPN Unlimited subscribers could buy the 2026 seasonal plan for $134.99. These are season-specific listed prices, not a promise of current pricing; check the MLB.TV and ESPN page for current terms, billing and renewal details.
In the United States, new subscribers can purchase MLB.TV through ESPN platforms and, after linking accounts, watch through ESPN and MLB apps. Existing subscribers billed directly through MLB continued to be billed there, while international subscribers continue to purchase through MLB, according to the service page. Purchase flows may not be supported on every device.

National games may need a different app or channel
Some regular-season and postseason games are exclusive to national rights-holders rather than available through MLB.TV or a club’s local service. MLB’s 2026 guide lists games on TBS, Apple TV, FOX, ESPN, NBC and Peacock; MLB’s rights announcement also names Netflix. The agreements with ESPN, NBCUniversal and Netflix cover the 2026–2028 seasons.
For example, Peacock says Sunday Leadoff is a weekly Sunday daytime showcase requiring Peacock Premium; Sunday Night Baseball airs on NBC and Peacock. MLB says Netflix has live-event rights including Opening Night in 2026. These are examples of rights and scheduled programming, not an assurance that every game on a partner is exclusive or available in every location. Check the specific game listing before choosing an app.
Can MLB.TV show every game live or later?
No. MLB.TV is primarily an out-of-market service, and nationally exclusive games may be carried by another rights-holder. Local blackouts and other territorial restrictions can also limit a live stream. MLB.TV lists on-demand and archived games, but availability for a particular replay, timing, territory and package is not guaranteed for every matchup; check the game and your account.

Why a game may be blacked out
Blackouts are tied to geography, rights and the particular game. MLB/ESPN says its U.S. MLB.TV service is subject to blackout restrictions. Peacock separately warns that selected regular-season, special-event and postseason games may be unavailable because of territorial restrictions, even if the listed team is away or its game is not carried on local television.
Before paying, use MLB’s blackout lookup for your location and check the rights-holder’s own availability information. A local blackout on MLB.TV does not mean a different partner has the same restriction, and a partner’s listing does not guarantee access from every location.
Devices and viewers outside the United States
The MLB.TV/ESPN page lists support across Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, iOS and tvOS, Android, Samsung, LG and Vizio TVs, Xbox, PlayStation and additional platforms. Supported devices and purchase flows can differ; check the service page for your device before subscribing.
Outside the United States, MLB’s international purchase route is a starting point, but country-specific rights and restrictions still need checking. The U.S. plan prices and distribution details above should not be assumed to apply internationally.
