To see a HomeKit camera on iPhone without a widget, open the Home app, select the Home tab, and tap the camera tile. Apple says the live view should start automatically. You can make the tile easier to reach by moving the Cameras section higher in the Home tab; this is an in-app shortcut, not a camera feed on the iPhone Home Screen.

Open the Home app on your iPhone.

Tap the Home tab and find the Cameras section.

Tap the tile for the camera you want to view. Live video should play automatically. Apple says up to four camera views can appear below Cameras; swipe left in the section to see more. Apple’s Home overview and its camera setup guide describe this route.

Make camera access quicker inside Home
If you have to scroll to find Cameras, edit and reorder the sections on the Home tab so the camera section appears nearer the top. Apple documents customizing the Home tab’s section order in its Home overview. This only changes the layout inside the Home app; it does not add a live camera widget to the iPhone Home Screen.
Review a recorded clip, if your camera is set up to record
Live streaming and recording are separate capabilities. A camera must support HomeKit Secure Video and be configured for recording to provide activity clips. In the camera view, swipe through the timeline and select a clip to play it; tap Live to return to the current stream. Apple’s security camera guide explains the setup and playback workflow.

Apple describes HomeKit Secure Video as adding features such as encrypted video handling and activity recording. Its guide describes retaining the last 10 days of activity under the specified iCloud+ setup. Check Apple’s current iCloud+ terms and your camera’s configuration before relying on recording or retention.
Choose the camera and setup for the feature you need
Apple Home compatibility and HomeKit Secure Video are not interchangeable labels. Apple Home compatibility enables streaming in the Home app; HomeKit Secure Video is the additional capability to look for if you want Apple’s recording and clip-review features. Before buying, check the exact camera model’s compatibility and whether it supports HomeKit Secure Video in Apple’s camera setup guide.

Apple’s Home and camera guides describe hub roles and setup requirements: Home on iPhone and security cameras in Home. A hub can be relevant to remote control and certain camera functions, but buying one does not create an iPhone camera widget.

If you want to see supported security-camera video on a television, use the Apple Home tab on Apple TV 4K. Apple documents camera viewing there, including picture-in-picture for supported cameras. This can be useful while using the TV, but it does not replace the iPhone’s Home app route. See Apple’s Apple TV 4K camera instructions.

Use notifications to know when to check a camera
Camera activity notifications can alert you to activity and prompt you to open the camera in Home; an alert itself is not a live video view. Apple’s documented setup requires a home hub for camera notifications when you are away. See Apple’s smart home notification instructions and its camera guide for configuration details.
